Bloomfield to host next NT games.

IFA has decided that the friendly match gainst Serbia will take place at Bloomfield Stadium, the same will happen with the matches against Latvia and Georgia for the Euro 2012 qualifiers.

IMO it is better, Bloomfield is a much more home atmosphere for the NT, plus the way the team is dissapointing, not many fans would attend the game which would make Ramat Gan a desert.

Bit of a trek from Israel to Blackpool though isn't it? Especially just for a friendly.

Actually, Bloomfield is the name of a stadium in Tel-Aviv. Its also the name of the Stadium for Blackpool which is where you might be confused.

Yes, thank you Lior for clarifying.

Finally a smart move from IFA. Any news of when will the new stadiums be ready? Or better saying, which one will be ready first.

I know the Petah Tikva stadium is already on the way.

Its not bad. I hate to use other stadiums other than the Ramat Gan NT stadium, but you have no choice when you will renovate the NT stadium soon.

I think when you have Ofek Stadium, Petach Tikva and Netanya being the new stadiums in Israel, you will see games move to other stadiums and be played their.

Ofek may be the replacing stadium for Israel as RG goes under the knife

When you say Ofek you mean the Sami Ofer Stadium in Haifa right?

Anyways we need a new national stadium so that our NT could have a real home atmosphere ground in modern patterns.

Apparently Israel is lining games up against China and Japan, should be interesting to see if those come through.

Yes that!!!

So my guess is that they are tearing up the whole stadium, mowing it down and out and rebuilding it. Not renovating it?

Is it true that they are moving it a bit and making resedential area in place?

It will be interesting to see Israel play these opponents, but the truth is we are so bad currently that it wouldn´t be nice to expose ourselves to defeat in these friendlies. I believe we shouldn´t judge a job until it is done, but the way thinkgs are looking in the Fernandez era we are not going forward, on contrary. We once were feared by the big teams, who were worried to come and play Israel becaus they knew we were tough, but today we are one simple team.

Back in the day, playing in Israel would mean either accepting a loss or a tie.

Today it is a chance (easy one) to get 3 points

^^ I think just because we beat the nemesis of the late 90's/early 2000's (Cyprus) and gave stubborn teams like Ireland and France a run of their money, we act as if we are good....

and we were....13th best team in the FIFA ranking

Well FIFA ranking is not exactly a reliable source of measuring who is the best, but of course we were in good days in late 90`s early 2000´s. We had a a very good team and above all we played good football. I remember we had two qualifiers straight with Spain and Austria and we played fantastic, against Spain Berkovic played one of his best games of his career with the NT.

IFA announced today together with the Tel Aviv-Yaffo municipality that Bloomfield Stadium will upgrade their current capacity of 16,500 seats to 18,000 focusing on the U-21 tournament to be held in Israel in 2013.

Probably right after the current season ends they will begin the work, it is likely that since it won´t be major changes than it should be ready on the period you mentioned.
