Israel U-19

Israel's u-19 team has been playing in a tournament, so far they have beaten Serbia 2-1 and Hungary 2-0. They will meet Germany in the final on the 17th. Full games can be found on football.org.il

I am not surprised. Israel has always had good results on youth level, the problem as we know is when we get to to senior.

Israel won both of its Friendlies against Belarus, 1-0 and 2-1 in preparation for the beginning of the Elite round in the Uefa U-19 championships.

Our youth team finished sadly in the last phase of the Elite Round, in the same team with Holland, Cezch republic and Russia.

Group 5
1.Czech Republic - 7pts
2.Russia - 5pts
3.Holland - 2pts
4.Israel - 1pts.


There was no way to watch the games, atleast not from what I found - but in general we had the lead in every single one of our games which could be incouraging and according to reports played pretty well.. Eli Ohana keeps dissapointing in terms of results, but in those levels it matters less aslong as he helps develop the kids.. only problem is thats only for him to know cause we can't see the games =/

From all the reports I read, Amir Agayev has been a real standout for us - and from personal experience I can tell you guys it does not suprise me one bit - I happened to go to a Maccabi youth game against Bnei Yehuda a few months ago and all I could talk about is this kid.. lighting fast, agile, ball glued to his feet - just a genuine live-wire.. reminded me abit of Elroi Cohen the first time I saw him... donno if he played in a senior match yet - but trust me, this kid is gonna be a name to reckon with in Ligat Ha'al.. i'll bump this post in a couple of years for sure.

Sucks we can't establish ourselfs in those group ages tho... would really love it if we would put emphasis in those ages, the U-15 to U-19.. maybe when the "Beit Ha'Nivharot" will be built we'll show improovment.. until then we can only hope.

You mean the U-21 that managed to qualify for the Final 8 in Holland right?

It was indeed a great team that managed to eliminate France from the competition, but as it happens in the senior team we crumbled in money time.

On paper a good team led by Guy Levi. We also had Arbeitman on the bench as a forward option. So basically our forwards became what expected from them (maybe it was thought a bit more from Sahar). Our defensive midfielders aren`t really a certainty in their teams, maybe Yeini has established himself at Maccabi.

Spungin and Denin nothing special, Maimon and Keinan good defenders, the latter a level above. Only Almadon dissapointed and didn`t become the keeper it was expected.

Lior Jan was captain and starting CB or DM, can't remember.. pretty sure over Yeini tho - but pretty much you got it spot it I think.

True Or, Jan was in that team. Not sure if was over Yeini or over Taga. There was also Baruchyan in that team.

Israel's U-19 team lost 7-1 to Portugal after losing 2-0 to the Ukraine in the Elite Round of the U-19 tournament. Their final game is against Ireland tomorrow. I think Ohana should resign and we should get a coach in there that is more professional, i suspect the reason he is in there is because he was a good player, not because of his coaching abilities, as I think the U-19's shouldn't have lost that badly.
