Israel NT: Sidebacks

Maybe it is still early since we aren`t participating in the World Cup, no firendlies scheduled until late Ferbuary and the Euro qualifying draw will only be held in three months time.

But here in xtratime, differently from Luzon and IFA we are trying to figure a solution for our senior NT, the new coach and the best picks up

We are having a good generation coming up and i am curious to know what do you guys think which players Israel`s next coach should pick.

I will be starting with keepers.

Pick two keepers you guys think should be called up in the next friendlies and in the next campaign.

Pick 4 sidebacks.

This will be a tight dispute.

My votes were:

Rightbacks, Spungin and Canada.

Leftbacks, Dedi Ben Dayan and Yoav Ziv.

But the other options like Meshumar and Bondarv are also intresting.

But in the leftback positions, Ben Dayan and Ziv are guaranteed IMO.

This is a area which im not really fond of for the NT. Followed by Goal keeping, the Sidebacks are always risky.

Im not gonna comment much on it..
my top 4 picks are Yoav Ziv - because he was the element needed for that win or tie against Latvia.... followed by Yuval Spugnin who seems to be atleast consistant sometimes...

my other 2 picks were Ali Othman and Eyal Meshumar. Both young, had some talent and showed it against European sides...and i think they have alot to prove....
but this is only on a sort of experimental basis...

Israel traditionally plays in a 4-4-2 formation and only with Avram Grant`s second campaign in the 2006 qualifiers when we had three central defenders.

We don`t have extraordinary sidebacks, but they aren`t that bad. We some options like we have seen in this poll. I also voted for Spungin because from the rightbacks i thought he was the most balanced one (attacks and defends decently). In the leftback Yoav Ziv and Dedi Ben Dayan have a good dispute, but the latter is IMO the starter for his consistency and balance (same criteria i used for Spungin).

The thing is: Would it be better for Israel to play with three central defenders and play with good wingers, like Omri Afek? In Maccabi Tel Aviv´s recent win over Maccabi Haifa, Dor Malul who is a midfielder, but sometimes is positioned as a rightback had a very good display and with success stopped Haifa`s left side. He is a good option to place as a rightback. He would become like Yoav Ziv, who was a midfielder, but when moved to the sideback position at Beitar was called for the NT.
