Israel NT: Defensive Midfielders.

Maybe it is still early since we aren`t participating in the World Cup, no firendlies scheduled until late Ferbuary and the Euro qualifying draw will only be held in three months time.

But here in xtratime, differently from Luzon and IFA we are trying to figure a solution for our senior NT, the new coach and the best picks up

We are having a good generation coming up and i am curious to know what do you guys think which players Israel`s next coach should pick.

I will be starting with keepers.

Pick two keepers you guys think should be called up in the next friendlies and in the next campaign.

Pick 3 defensive midfielders.

My choices: Biram Kiyal, Tamir Cohen and Avihai Yadin.

I guess we are very well served in this position. Kiyal and Yadin are young and very good tacklers. Tamir Cohen with his experience in England has improved and all of these three players have a lot of fighting spirit.

We still have Alberman and i would say Ran Abukrat of Hapoel Haifa has good potential to play in this position.

Shiran Yeini is also in good form at Maccabi Tel Aviv, but don`t think he will take the place of the others.

I picked the same three as you Berko, but if Alberman ever recovers his form, then he would be my first choice, he is more technical than Kiyal and faster than Cohen.

Here is who I would call up to the NT as of now.
I wouldn't pick players who aren't playing for their clubs (Barda, Assulin, Colautti, Ziv, Golan, Strul)

GK (Aouate, Levite, Davidovic)

DF (Keinan, Ben-Haim, Mori, Bondarv, Ben-Dayan, Meshumar, Haimovic)

MF (Benayoun, Natcho, Yadin, Cohen, Vermut, Bruchyan, Kiyal)

FW (Shechter, Arbeitman, Tamuz, Abuhatzera, Sahar)

Yeah, my picks were also related mainly to current form. I believe we agree that Yadin, Kiyal and Cohen are in better form, but obviously if Alberman gets into his best he could contribute immensely to the NT.

At least we have plenty of options for the position. Some years ago we didn`t have many quality defensive midfielders and that is why we had Badir for about 10 years untouchable in midfield.

Maybe this is the best generation in the position since Banin and Abuksis.

I chose Tamir Cohen, Gal Alberman and Moshe Ohayon.

I think Tamir is the most strongest and aggressive player we got for the NT.

Gal Alberman can still do tricks and im hopeful he will be back in force.

The wildcard will be given to Ohayon. He is Ashdod eyes and ears this season. Ashdod is mediocre and last game was a given..but they have constantly tied games and are popular for doing so. Thanks to him they arent losing and join Bnei Sachnin, Raanana and Co. down in the bottom...maybe thats a sign something good from a player like him

Ohayon is a good player and was pretty decent at Beitar, but i believe Yadin and Kiyal have more to give than him. They are younger and could still i mprove.
