Switzerland vs Israel 14/10/09 world cup qualifying

We are pretty much out of the world cup(unless we beat Switzerland and Greece draw or lose against Luxembourg.), so this match will probably be mostly for pride, hopefully with the pressure off we can beat the Swiss.

Switzerland are sure of the nr 1 or 2, but they will be keen on avoiding the playoffs and possible encounters with France, Russia, Ukraine or Portugal ... So I fear they will line up their strongest eleven after all.

Is this game in Basle or Zurich? Generally the Basle crowd is a lot more intimidating than the one in Zurich, although being used to Ramat Gan this should be no excuse for the Israeli players. I hope they will go for it and don´t come on the pitch with an idea that this is a pointless friendly. As long as the chance is there, even when it´s an unlikely one, they have the duty towards the fans to go for it. Plus, even if Luxembourg doesn´t survive the Greek hell, a win against the Swiss would at least spare more embarrassment and somehow finish the campaign with ... I cannot say a positive note, but a less negative one (damn, we are thinking in degrees of negativity rather than counting on a positive outcome )

How should Luxembourg approach this game? Try to play it with the risk of another 7-0, or build a brick wall in front of their own goal and hope the Greeks cannot find an opening and get nervous? I know it is pity we are now discussing Luxembourg as our saviour, but if they can beat Switzerland away then ... Let´s at least believe in the unthinkable, that´s less depressing than believing it´s all over already.

I believe Israel is the best team in the world at winning meaningless games (from their point of view)
So i expect Israel to take this.

Yeah that is pretty much about it.

But you know i am really mad because the other teams in the group dropped easy points and still we couldn´t even manage to achieve second place.

Actually we are all thinking in a miracle, but we could end the campaign in fourth place.

For the game against Switzerland, Ben Dayan and Sahar will be out due yellow cards suspension.

According to practice there is a possibility of Din Mori from Bnei Yehuda to start in the expense of Dekel Keinan.

Roberto Collauti is also expected to start on Wednesday.

I am not religious, but i put Tefilin everyday. Unfortunately i don´t think it help very much since the players don´t believe in themselves either and Kashtan has given signs of that.

The unofficial lineup according to the last practice has been released and we will field three defensively midfielders unless a late unexpected change is made.

Tamir Cohen, Biram Kiyal and Avihay Yadin all played in the first lineup. This means only Yossi Benayoun will be the creative midfielder. Elyaniv Barda is also with his place secured and waits for the decision on who will play along his side. Itay Shechter, Roberto Collauti and Gili Vermut are all on the picture with a slight advantage for the latter after having a good game against Moldova, but this would also mean we would play with only Barda upfront.

With the suspension of Ben Dayan, Yoav Ziv moves the left back position while Klemi Saban will once again have the position of right back after losing it in the last games.

Probable lineup for tommorow:

Aouate; Saban, Ben Haim, Strul, Ziv; Kiyal, Yadin, Cohen, Benayoun; Vermut (Collauti or Shechter), Barda.

I am already seeing the anger coming in this forum

IF this is true, that Kashtan is going to play 3 DM's, then I ask any of you that is rational, how can we blame it on the players when they have an incompetent coach leading them.
Lets just say that somehow, someway, Israel makes the playoffs, I dont think I can stand the stress and anxiety of a 2-leg playoff with this facking clown in charge. Not to mention the embarrassment either (remember Denmark!)

3 DM's hahahahah, 3 facking DM's! Unbelievable.

Biram Kayal, WHY IN THE FACKING WORLD IS THIS GUY ON THE NT, HE IS, SIMPLY PUT, SHllT!

ARGHHHH, im going to bed

Kashtan has released the official lineup:

Aouate; Saban, Ben Haim, Strul, Ziv; Kiyal, Yadin, Cohen, Benayoun; Barda, Collauti.

Well he placed two strikers upfront, but on the other hand 3 defensive midfielders are confirmed.

Kashtan and the players have been stressing the importance of the match and that they will play to win, but honestly the way it looks and also by the lineup, Israel will sit back and wait the Swiss to attack.

There will be a lot of pressure on our goal in the first minutes, be sure of that. I just hope that the fact we have 3 DM´s means that Benayoun will have a free role in midfield to feed Barda and Collauti otherwise the Swiss will completely control us.

A win is important for us so that we could keep the good ranking for the Euro 2012 qualifiers.

ugh our team, is so poorly coached, there were four guys within two inches of the ball when they needed to pass it....our spacing on the pitch is terrible, always out of position.

Halftime, a poor showing overall, again we play defensively, Kiyal has been terrible, Shechter for Kiyal please, Yoav Ziv and Klemi Saban are both liabilities, both should learn how to pass the ball.
