Israel vs Finland

I dont know what kind of players Finland has, but given their current preseason form/stats from last season, here is who i would have start.

-------------Colautti-----------Barda-------------
Benayoun-----------------------------Buzaglo----
-------------Alberman--------Bruchyan-----------
Saban-------Ben-Haim--------Strool-------Ziv

Im looking forward to this game having be the only game before we begin our Qualification in September. Sad as it may be we only have Finland to play. With our amazing stats and being 22nd best in FIFA..we should have a wave of people coming and wanting to play us in a friendly. Not only in Israel, but abroad. I prefer having games away as it makes it more challenging with weather issues, field and ofcourse fans.

We should have played Italy, Poland, Czech and possibly a few other key names. But Finland is a good friendly because there season has already started and they are in form.

Im not expecting a lose for Israel. but a tie would look more likely. A win would show Israeli strenght for sure. Regardless of Finlands showing...

I hope we can get a few more friendlies. Even Georgia looks a little intresting to play

--------------Colautti-----------Barda-------------
Benayoun-----------------------------Buzaglo----
-------------Alberman--------Baruchyan-----------
Saban-------Ben-Haim-------Strool-------Shpungin

--------------------------Awat

changes i could make, if Megrelashvili is finally call, use him insted of Saban, and depending how Strool is i would put Haimovitch there

Guess, Finland is far from bad. They are not a minnow. Came very close to qualifying for the Euro, if the referee did not wrongly disallow a goal in Belgium they'd had won there and had very big chances to eliminate Portugal in the qualifiers. Even with that referee mistake, Finland was in the race for the Euro2008 until the last day.

They may not be world class, but this is far from a bad team and will be an educative game for Israel. I think the team could have gotten a lot worse when it comes to opposition, there won't be an easy game in Helsinki but it will show us a lot about how good Israel is at this moment. IMO Finland is not far off the level of Swiss and Greece, so I think this game is perfect as preparation for the qualifiers.

Is it streamed online anywhere?

I dont think Itzhaki should be starting unless he heats up all of a sudden, I think hes not in that great shape after holding out from training with Genk during the offseason, and even though he is skilled I feel he is somewhat inconsistent of a player as well.

Itzhaki puts in good performances for the NT, and in 2 weeks time i think he should be close to fully fit. I would like to see him start only because hes going to be our man along with Buzaglo and Benayoun for the next qualifying and I'd like to have him get some playing time with these guys before the campaign starts.

Where is the full squad? Any surprises? Is Omer Golan still there?

Well, my team would be pretty much the same, with some modifications.

----------------------Awat----------------------------
Shpungin------Ben Haim-------Keinan------Ziv------------------------

-------------Alberman----------Baruchyan------------------------

--------Buzaglo(Hadad)-------------------Benayoun------------------

-------------Barda------------Collauti------------------------------

Depending on the opponent, if we need more tackle we put Tamir Cohen in expense of Buzaglo or Barda. Itzhaki is also an option if he recovers to his full form. But guess that Rudy Hadad with his current form could be also in the NT.
In defense, Strul or keinan to play alongside Ben Haim.

I didnt watch Beitar's game today but from other's comments Itzhaki didnt play very well today, until he shows that he is trying to make himself a better player i.e. returning to Beitar, he will continue to be inconsistent and should occasional moments of skill and thats it. We have other forwards that are better than him.

I would go with this 11:

------------------Colautti---Barda-------------------

Tuama(Zandberg)---T. Cohen---Alberman---Benayoun

Ziv--------Ben-Haim---------Strool---------Shpungin

-----------------------Awate-----------------------

I highly doubt that Sahar, G. Asulin, and Bozaglo will be called to the senior team, because they will probably be training with the U-21 team for the important U-21 qualifier against Germany in September. But then again, the senior team is the highest priority. So if they are called up, I would assume that Bozaglo or Asulin will start on the left wing. It will be tough to decide between Colautti, Sahar, and Barda, because they are all in amazing form right now...

Dror Kashtan has announced the squad to play against Finland in Helsinki next Wednesday. This is also a base for the final squad that will face Switzerland next month in Tel Aviv.

Keepers: Dudu Awat (La Coruna), Nir Davidovich (Maccabi Haifa), Liran Strauber (Maccabi Netanya)

Defenders and sidebacks: Yuval Shpungin (Maccabi Tel Aviv), Klemi Saban (Maccabi Netanya), Shmuel Kozukin (Beitar Jerusalem), Yoav Ziv (Beitar Jerusalem), Dedi Ben Dayan (Maccabi Netanya), Tal Ben Haim (Manchester City), Avi Strul (Lokeren), Dekel Keinan (Maccabi Haifa)

Midfielders: Gal Alberman (Borussia Monchengladbach), Tamir Cohen (Bolton), Aviram Baruchyan (Beitar Jerusalem), Biram Kiel (Maccabi Haifa),
Moshe Ohayon (Beitar Jerusalem), Maor Buzaglo (Maccabi Tel Aviv), Yossi Benayoun (Liverpool)

Forwards and Strikers: Elyaniv Barda (Genk), Roberto Collauti (Borussia Monchengladbach), Omer Golan (Lokeren), Ben Sahar (Portsmouth), Amit Ben Shushan (Beitar Jerusalem)

Surprise calls were from Kozukin that isnt even a starter at Beitar, even though we all know he has a very good potential and a future in the NT. Ben Shushan who hasnt played in the games against Wisla is also in. Biram Kiel defensive midfielder from Haifa who is in good form was also called. Itzhaki was left out of the squad.

Tamuz and Guy Asulin were called for the U-21.

What do you guys think?

About Golan i could agree with you, guess we have players like Shechter and Itzhaki who could be in instead of him (even though Itzhaki will return to the NT when he recovers his form, he was injured).

But, Ziv must stay, he is our best leftback. Dedi ben Dayan is a good sub for him aswell. Strul, Keinan and Ben Haim are better than Haimovich, so no worries. Saban is a right back, we have Shpungin and Kozukin who were so in this case i also think we are well served.

About Ben Sahar, well he is regaining his form at portsmouth and wasnt a surprise since Kashtan has been calling him frequently.

dunno never liked Ziv, and if Megra went to Holland and stayed there must be for a good reason, Haimovitch its the future partner of Ben Haim in the central defence, remember that i sometimes can see the future in players getting called to the nt!
