Israels secret weapon for success in WC 2010....

Resting for 5 months ahead of the next game against our first opponent, Switzerland.

And you wonder why Kashtan whines all the time, unlike Grant who proved his mark and worth!

Chile will be our last game until another 5 months when we have another game vs. Finland in Helsinki. Hellejua! Were playing a team abroad finally. Should give us a warm up.

But seriously....
Switzerland, whom should be a tough opponent for us, regardless of what happens to them in the Euro's, since they are hosting it, is having 2games ahead of Euro 2008. One today vs. Germany and one at a later time. On top of 3 offical games which they will play in their group.

I mean, cant the IFA/Kashtan sit down and show Israel in a better light. 22nd position, have been constantly winning at home and are considered a tough oppononet...yet no one wants to play us and test us in friendlies?

Some teams right now that can benefit from a friendly, not today, but later on is: Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland, France, Turkey.

Yet nothing. And even without teams already in the EURO, other teams may be good to play...Belgium , Bulgaria, Hungary, Montenegro, Norway, Slovakia, and Spain?!?!?

I really don't think friendlies should count in this case, because Germany is currently raping Switzerland 3-0! (someone call the cops...) What good is a friendly if you're not capable of acheiving a respectable result against a formidable opponent? They're basically getting molested out there on their home field and it certainly doesn't look good for them going into EURO...

I certainly hope they can maintain this form for us... :dielaugh:

On a more serious note, our real secret weapon will be our scouting ability. We will be able to watch them(and Greece) play in EURO while they can't watch us. So Kashtan better have his eyes glued to TV during the EURO matches! It gives us an advantage and a more up-to-date report on their national squad players and tactics.

I'm sure we'll be able to squeeze in one more friendly before the EURO or at least get a few training sessions with the full squad. Kashtan will have a meeting with the Israeli club managers soon so they can allow this to happen. The campaign didn't start yet, so it's not panic time just yet...

doubt assuilin is our secret weapon and doubt he'll play so much in the WC campaign....i agree with kappa when he says we need more friendlies and we can say that we can spy on both Greece (who played quiet a game agaisnt portugal) and Switzerland but in the end they will have plenty of games to play in the euro which will give their players the ability to know one another, develope a chemistry, and learn from their mistakes....all these teams can be dangerous

Just right now Belgium played Morroco? For what?

Belgium can play us, but instead they play some mediocre team from Africa. I dont know how they really try to compete......

Were trying to be legitimate.

As much as i welcome the August game vs. Finland at away, which is challenging as always, given the fact that while we sweat like pigs in Israel watching the game live...in Finland the high at night might be +9 or +16......

Friendlies are just an idea on how the teams are playing. Switzerland played badly against Germany, while Greece showed once more they are a very solid as a team. The real test will be in Euro, there we will observe their real strength.

so we just sit and watch the games?
Not play or participate in any?

Can teams play while Euro 2008 goes on? Against...say....African/Asian teams?

Morocco is not mediocre, they proved that in Brussels. But that said, why would you want to play Belgium? Belgium has a bad team right now, not even mediocre but just bad. You can just as well play Estonia or Armenia ... You need opponents that are actually good, that way the players can learn from it. In that perspective, Finland is a good choice as they have improved a lot lately and the game will be interesting. Other interesting opposition would be for example Norway, Denmark or Ukraine, all teams who narrowly missed Euro 2008 but still of good quality.

Yes. You can indeed, although it would probably need to be non-European opposition because Euro 2008 is right after the domestic seasons in Europe, so either the players are at Euro2008 or either (if thei country didn't qualify) they will want a holiday once their club has finished its season. I don't think it is a very good time for friendlies, but it is definitely not against the rules to play a friendly during the tournament.

Asulin looks incredible, just hope he gets some playing time in the near future at Barcelona. They also have Bojan (Spanish U-21) and Giovanni (Mexican U-21) fighting for playing time. Of course Messi is also still around.......

Barcelona is messed up. Too many players and they dont know what to do with them. Ronaldinho is almost invisible out their compared to his great year 2 years ago when they won it all. They are relying on all these youngsters to carry them, which wont work.
Another embarrassing defeat this past weekend after losing to a team not even in the top 10 after they were up 2-0 at halftime!

Its good that Asulin is going to be playing at Barca, I just hope he'll get his playing time with all the other youngsters. Although I've heard rumors of Giovanni being transferred after this season.
