Euro U-17 Campaign, '07-'08

Group 7
Teams Pld W D L GF GA Pts
Israel 3 2 1 0 5 1 7
Serbia 3 2 0 1 4 2 6
Iceland 3 1 0 2 1 4 3
Lithuania 3 0 1 2 0 3 1

Mathday 1 - September 27, 2007

Serbia 1 - 0 Iceland

Israel 0 - 0 Lithuania

Mathday 2 - September 29, 2007

Serbia 2 - 0 Lithuania

Iceland 0 - 3 Israel

Mathday 3 - October 2, 2007

Israel 2 - 1 Serbia

Lithuania 0 - 1 Iceland

UEFA

Serbia was the group host. Although they got off to a slow start, Israel managed to beat Iceland, who were in the the Finals last year, and the hosts Serbia. This is a good sign of composure and strong morale, especially for youngsters at this age.

They advance to the Elite Round, where only the top team in each group advances to the Final Tournament. The Elite Round takes place between February 1 and March 31, 2008.

In the youth tournaments we alwyas achieve good results, too bad that in the senior level we don´t have the same performance.

Zeltzer to coach the NT?

We have been put in the group of death for the Elite Round:

Group 3
England
Israel
France
Russia

Only the group winner qualifies for the final.
Israel will play host to the group. The matches will take place from March 25th to March 30th.

At this age level, we are technically and tactically superior than the other 3, but we severely lack stamina, which will most likely be the key factor in winning this group.

This is the only group where all 4 teams have a realistic shot at advancing. :hopeful:

Mathday 1 - March 25, 2008

England 1 - 1 France
Municipal, Rishon Le-Zion

Israel 3 - 1 Russia
Nes-Ziona, Nes-Ziona

The perfect start to the Elite Round. We took care of the Russians and the other two tied. If we beat France on thursday and England ties with Russia, then we have qualified for EURO U-17!!! :hopeful::drool:

No one would expect us to qualify from this group with England, France, and Russia, but we're almost there. We must come out strong against the French and snatch a victory, because i don't think anybody here wants a must-win situation against England in the last match... :nervous:

EL EL YISRAEL!!! :fero:

well we lost to france 3-2, right now i'm watching Israel-England and we're leading 2-1 against england...unfortunantly as it stands we will not go through since france is still currently leading Russia 2-1...all i want to say is that our youngsters are extremely impressive and no one should underestimate these guys, they have discipline and most of all creativity and they use everything they are taught on the practice grounds onto the game....whehter we qualify or not....i'm extremely impressed...these guys are playing kids who are in youth and reserve teams of chelsea, united, etc.... and stil beat them, anyone who says our boys arent' as fit are very wrong because they're running nonstop
