Israel wins Milk Cup Elite final in Northern Ireland

There hasn't been a thread on this (as far as I can see) so I figured I might as well inform those of you who are interested!

The Milk Cup is a football competition for junior players...it is divided into 3 sections, junior (for players born after 1st Jan 1992), premier (for players born after 1st Jan 1990), and elite (national teams, for players born after 1st Jan 1992).

From bbc sport:

"Israel deny NI in Elite decider

Israel came from a goal down to claim a 4-1 victory over Northern Ireland in Friday's Milk Cup Elite final.

Northern Ireland dominated the opening 23 minutes and went close on several occasions before Jonathan Taylor headed Roy Miller's side into the lead.

However, Hen Azriel levelled for Israel on 28 minutes against the run of play.

Avraham Rikan's deflected effort put Israel ahead before the break and he notched Israel's third before classy Maor Bar Buzaglo added the fourth.

The home side started brightly with Taylor's early header being turned away for a corner by Israeli goalkeeper Gal Mesika.

Chris Casement was then presented with a great chance after Martin Donnelly's corner but the Northern Ireland man headed over from close range.

Donnelly's delivery from dead balls was causing all sorts of problems for the Israel defence and it was his corner which enabled Taylor to head home on 23 minutes.

However, the Irish were then hit by a sucker punch when Asrael levelled on 28 minutes with the home defence caught napping.

Israel went ahead in the 36th minute when Rikan's scrambled effort beating the unlucky Trevor Carson.

The game was effectively over three minutes after the break when Rikan poked home Israel's third goal from close range after Bar Buzaglo had waltzed through the Northern Ireland defence.

Chris Casement went close for the home team on 55 minutes and after Israel had missed further chances, substitute Jonathan Flynn then rattled the Israeli crossbar with a looping header in the 67 minutes.

However, Israel were dominating for the most part and the outstanding Bar Buzaglo completed the scoring with a superb finish on 69 minutes."

Northern Ireland: Trevor Carson (capt), Adam Chapman, Chris Casement, Jonathan Taylor, Robbie Weir, Curtis Allen, Michael Carvill, Martin Donnelly, Ian Curran, Ryan Harpur, Robin Shroot

Israel: Gail Mesika, Amiran Shkalim, Oshri Roash, Oded Elkayam, Mor Dehai Danon, Avraham Rikan, Maor Bar Buzaglo (capt), Moshe Benlulu, Baram Kayal, Hen Azriel, Ran Abukart

sorry slight correction the elite section is for players born in 1988, not 1992.

He was great in the game against Maccabi Haifa, too. Could have scored a couple times and hit the bar. Very creative player.
