Macedonia Facing Suspension....

Macedonia faces int'l suspension
By Haaretz Correspondent and Agencies , By Uzi Dann

Israel Euro 2008 qualifying Group E opponent Macedonia was warned Friday by FIFA and UEFA that it faces suspension from international soccer unless the government ends its repeated interference in the sport.

In a joint statement, the sport's world and European governing bodies said they were reacting to reported attempts to overthrow the Macedonian football federation's current president.

"FIFA and UEFA have been informed that on 14 April 2007 a small number of football delegates held a meeting in order to discuss the replacement of the current and duly elected president ... Hari Hadzi-Risteski," the statement said.

"The two governing bodies wish to underline that such meetings are not in compliance with the Macedonian association's statutes and therefore any decisions or actions taken would not be recognized either on a national or international level."

The statement warned that "such illegal actions ... may therefore lead to the suspension of the Football Federation of FYR Macedonia and a consequent ban on participation in any international competition." FIFA and UEFA issued a similar warning last month following a meeting between the organizations' presidents Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini and delegates from Macedonia, but did not on that occasion explicitly mention the threat of suspension.

FIFA and UEFA first expressed concern over the government's actions in January following the closure of the Macedonian FA's offices by the country's ministry of internal affairs.

Macedonia is fifth in qualifying Group E, six points behind leaders Croatia and four points behind the chasing pack of Israel, Russia and England.

Pro:
One less team to focus on...

They won't be suspended

If they were I don't think Israel would lose points.

i doubt they'll be suspended and if they are then i look at it as a loss, i think we can take points from macedonia. ITs not because i underestimate macedonia at all because we kno that they can beat many good teams, but i think we're too determined to give up the points.

After Macedonia gave Croatia hell in Zagreb...im scared shitless of them
The only high i have is winning at home and away to Estonia....

Macedonia is a huge task for us. And we still have andorra and Russia to play...

so i mean...if they get suspended, which is slim, than atleast we wont have to play a team which was tough on our top top opponent...to say the least...

Macedonia are a tough side to beat and we will have a hard time in both games, Tel Aviv and Skopje, but we are capable of doing so, they have potential, but they are underestimating us a bit.

Very true.
Im still having nightmares of the infamous friendly we had in Skopje with Grant 3 years ago or so...
we had a 3-1 lead and i think we ended up earning that win..
none the less, mistakes should never be repeated!

I don't think a suspension will be handed out, it is just a threat to difuse the negative energy coming out of the FFM camp. The current leaders are corrupted, but then so were the previous ones and the new ones aren't any different. I believe Greece was temporarily suspended by FIFA for similar government interference with the National team interests, but they solved it right away.

TO be banned from UEFA or FIFA is something that someone has to answer for, after all the recent development and success of our young players, it would be devastating for sure...

First off, we are not sure where the game will be played, there are some speculations that the national team stadium is going to be undegoing a phase of rennovation, so we'll see how that goes; the game is a must win for us, anything else is "qualifications over":smileani:

There is only one Macedonia, unfortunately a divided one!

Israel will win, Macedonia doesn't end up winning these kind of games.

We wont be suspended, be sure of that.

Israel have good chances to get points in Skopje bcoz we always underestimate teams like Israel and by livin in Skopje I can tell u that ppl here talk that we will not just defeat Israel but crush it. Im sure the players think the same way and thats why I wont be surprised if u get the points.

Better for us if you underestimate our NT. Because we are coming for the match knowing we will have a tough match and consequently well prepared aswell. If we want a dream to be alive we need points in Skopje.

Benayoun and Ben Haim are due suspension. Gershon as far as i know is fit for the match. katan wasn´t called up for the last games, not sure if Kashtan will call him now.

On the other hand we have the return of Idan Tal and striker Roberto Collauti who didn´t play against England will certainly be at the game.

I heard Macedonia won´t have its captain for the game is that true?

Good luck to you guys too. May the best win.

Yep, from the red card against Croatia. He's our leader but we have back ups from the Bundesliga to cover up for him.

Goce Sedlovski, the captain. he wont play due to his red card against Croatia. but we wont miss him coz we have an equal sub for him, Igor Mitreski from Energie Cottbus. the only difference between them both is that Goce is captain and Igor isnt.

we will miss the most Aleksandar Mitreski in the mid, hes irreplaceble
