EC Qualifier: Russia - Israel

So in one week time we will have our first real test on the Euro Qualifyers against Russia in Moscow. Important game and if we collect a draw would be a great result if we win in Tel Aviv obviously next year.

Kashtan made the call up today and no surprises. Only Dekel Keinan and Yossi Shivhon are out due injury. Keisi and Saban are in.

Full Squad:

Goalkeepers: Dudu Awat ( Deportivo La Coruna), Nir Davidovich ( Maccabi Haifa)

Defenders: Omri Afek ( Beitar Jerusalem) Klemi Saban ( Steaua Bucharest) Tal Ben Haim ( Bolton) Tomer Ben Yosef ( Beitar Jerusalem), Shimon Guershon ( Beitar Jerusalem), Adoram Keisi ( Maccabi Haifa) Yoav Ziv ( Beitar Jerusalem)

Midfielders: Gal Alberman (Beitar Jerusalem) Walid Badir (Hapoel Tel Aviv) Idan Tal (Bolton), Michael Zandberg (Beitar Jerusalem), Salim Tuama (Hapoel Tel Aviv), Yossi Benayoun (West Ham)

Forwards: Yaniv Katan (Maccabi Haifa) Shlomi Arbeitman (Maccabi Haifa)
Amit Ben Shushan (Beitar Jerusalem), Omer Golan (Maccabi Petah Tikva) Roberto Collauti (Maccabi Haifa), Toto Tamuz (Beitar Jerusalem)

Good Luck to Israel!!

I hear Katan will have some problems, he was injured before the UEFA Cup game but took some shots and got on, but now its alot worst and he's in doubt. It would be a big blow for the NT.

Like berko says a draw would be good, but i believe that a win woiuld be ideal and actually realistic. They tied Croatia which is a very good thing for Israel, if they can win then it will be a very strong advantage. I saw the highlights of their game and we can beat them on a good day.

we have already beaten them 2 years ago i think (in moscow) , so i don't think they are better than israel. on a good day must beat them even in russia.

hey BTW i think in the in the next years israel will have a very good offence (arbeitman, ben-shushan, ben-sahar, gai asulin, tamuz)

I posted some of this info in the Euro thread and yes in the last three games Israel beat Russia twice including a 2x1 win Moscow which caused to coach on that time to resign.

whats the deal with Katan. NRG wrtes that he's not playing, and other sites say he's still undecided. I hear he needs a surgery, he's a good player and the NT needs him in Moscow.

It seems its official that Katan won´t be part of the squad against Russia. This news comes in a bad moment since he is recovering his good form, he would have been important in Moscow. Golan is also out due to injury. On the other hand Shivhon recovered and was recalled and will be part of the squad.

What worries me is that Benayoun is in doubt for the match.

I'll bet my house that Benayoun will play this game. He's always injured.

Katan was just getting in form, but maybe finally Ben Shoshan will start, he always makes an impact and never gets enough credit for it.

True Benayoun always plays, even with 50% conditions he is great.

Ben Shushan would be a good one, he is fast and Russia is a very physical team, with some speed upfront Collauti and Ben Shushan with Benayoun ( hopefully fit) assisting them it will be dangerous for the Russians.

Ben Shushan should be a starting player because IMO in the last games he was one of the best players for israel.

our young players are fearless and i love it. Tamuz, and Shushan both get on the field and are hungry to do something, if not score a goal then threaten or make an assist. Its a shame that Katan can't play but lets see what ben shushan can do. I also hear the Zandberg will be out.....we'll have alot of problems if we actually miss him and benayoun.

These injury rumours don't leave us very optimistic, Katan is out, but i believe Zandberg and Benayoun will play, maybe not 100%, but they will be in.

Zandberg has been left out of the squad following the injury concerns. I think Kashtan is being too harsh on him, it started with his exclusion from the Andorra game and continues here, I am sure he would've played if given the option. But anyway good for Beitar, more rest and less risk

Guillermo Israelevich has recieved the call-up instead.

Intresting Israelivich wasn´t a nem that would be expected. Maybe someone like Oved, Revivo, Dego would have been options before him, but he currently is having a good season at Kfar Saba.

The NT all of the sudden is being plagued of injuries....no good.

It seems Israelivich can´t come. He played for Argentina at the U-21 level.

Yeah i also thought that, but it seems he can't. Anyways there are other players that could come in his place, but it seems Kashtan won't call nobody to replace the ijured players.
