After living in Russia or the USSR many of them would be forced into prisons and slave camps had they treid to practice judaism like it is being practiced in Israel.
Many of them dont know much about judaism because ever since 1991, all there was was a hammer and sickle...many Russians i know are very religous and observant because they got a chance.... but many have a tough time... its natural...
its the same as American jews..many of them put U.S first and then religion..its fine..but then inter marriages occur and 150 years down the road...someone will go and say... "oo yea... i have SOME jewish in me..." its happening right before your eyes..
so i guess the Americans..you dont have to deal with, cause they dont bother to come to Israel...but the Russians...you would..cause many of them do come to Israel and somehow contribute..
the one niche of Russians i do have a problem with are the ones who are into Skinhadism from Russia, make a rukus in Petach Tikva park and synagogue and then come to Israel only to go to America/Canada.
When I was in Vancouver, i bumped into a Russian couple with a kid in Stanley Park, near that pool.. They saw me spekaing hebrew so they conversed..all good..
Then i realized that they came to Canada on "Refugee" basis. They are 1/8th jewish, they spoke hebrew perfectly and they got granted "REFUGEE STATUS" from the Canadian government because in Israel, they are persecuted for being Christians...those people bother me...
They make Israel look like in the leauge of Indonesia, Sudan and Nepal....
