Yossi Benayoun is Teamtalk's newcomer of the year

Another milestone in Benayoun's career, after getting a deserved recognition as he was voted into Sky Sports' team of the year, another English website gave Yossi an award and voted him for newcomer of the year. Ahead of players like Eboue, Sissoko, etc. Not too bad at all!

What can us West Ham fans say?

What a great player, he's like a soldier and plays with passion. He never gives up and is so hard working, all he needs to work on is just build some muscle and he'll be ready for the season ahead

i think yossi needs to carry the team in europe next year, have another good season in the premier league and then maybe transfer to a BIG club. Now would not be the right time. He has had a great year but next year things will be a lot harder, teams will no all about him and of west ham. if he transfers to early he could just end up as a wasted reserve somewhere. So stay another year in west ham IMO.

West Ham is a big team and has one of the largest fanbases in London. And for that matter, West Ham has for more tradition than Chelsea for example. And finally with a talented young squad full of players on the up that will be England internationals very soon once the Swede is gone things are looking very bright indeed. Every player leaving West Ham now is a fool. This team is going to win things very soon.

Besides, who would he play for? His playstyle doesn't fit Liverpool nor Chelsea nor Manure.

Even Berkovic now regrets leaving the Irons back in his days.

I agree. What exactly is a "big" team? In the past it was strictly based on how good your youth system was and how many of your own players you could raise. Westham BTW are excellent at that. The club that I support in England, Ipswich Town have a very good academy where they also raise their players. For me Ipswich are a big team. For others, everything is based only on money to define a "big" team. If Abromovich were to buy Rushden and Diamonds tomorrow they would also be a "big" team. Makes very little impression on me...

i agree with the above. i dont think yossi should even think about a transfer for now - he needs to concentrate on the coming season and the next season and then when his contract is done, he can start thinking about a possible move (which he shouldnt think about because he fits perfectly fine in west ham and he has no gaurantee that the same would happen in a different club). he also needs to concentrate on leading us finally to the Euro.
