Here is Australia's power forward scoring from a finger roll in FINA Basketball World Cup shock 17-15 victory over USA

The fact Australia is like the #2 team in the world is all you need to know about the sport, the land of Luc Longley

I see that Finland didn't make it either, the fact they were competitive for a few years was suspicious to me too

The scheduling for the qualifications are ridiculous. All our best players can't play.

Same can be said for every country which has few NBA or Euroleague players. Croatia simply didn't have enough depth.

Nevertheless qualification system was indeed awful.

For Finland it came down to a do or die against Russia. Aside of Croatia, Latvia and Slovenia are also notable misses.

Basketball, a game of stars. We missed ours. Indeed not enough depth on our team.

Apparently Simmons has a jump shot now.

This automatically makes him better than LeBron.

USA has a pretty weak roster this time and although they're still slight favorites to win the whole thing, it doesn't seem likely they could continue their unbroken win streak from 2008 ... pretty likely they will lose at least one match.

Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Every times we have the control the games, under the control the games, during the games we had the some possibilities, some big chances, some big okazyons, something like that but what can I do, sometimes? And….it’s the football, that’s the football, something happened. Everything is something happened. - Fatih Terim

Canada's roster looks insanely weak...looks like none of the best players came.

There's USA, then Serbia, then a bunch of posers with random black dudes playing PG. USSR used to be good, but now Russia is an embarrassment. Lithuania is a beacon of light for the eastern bloc.

well, Lithuania and Philippines are like the only 2 countries in the world where basketball is clearly the most popular sport

basket seems similar to cricket not only in being popular in random countries but also similar in boredom. I tried once watching a full game, Hun-Rom at Euro I think it was, couldn‘t manage to watch more than one half/third/quarter, or whatever they call that.
