Fortuna Liga 2015/16

Greetings, folks!

Is it too early to look ahead to the next term? I don't think so!

Slovan will still be considered favorites, I am sure. Of course, MfK Kosice, now TJ VSS Kosice, I believe, is in a serious state of change.

Also, our family's local club, MFK Zemplin Michalovce, has earned promotion!

It should be another great season!

Psst, its the Fortuna Liga now.

Trenčín are going to be right there with Slovan, those two teams seem to have the money to bring in decent players.

Slovan with the biggest offseason moves so far, adding Tamás Priskin, Boris Sekulić, and Jakub Podaný so far. I think their squad is stronger than in recent years and should be interesting to see if they can make any progress in the Europa League after taking the spot from Trnava on the last day. Myjava picked up ex-Slovak international Tomáš Kóňa -- wonder if he is done after the injury.

Any info on Spartak Trnava, guys? They're playing Olimpic Sarajevo in the EL first qualifying round, would be nice to get some info on their team and I'll give back some about Olimpic in return if you want. Cheers.

welcome here Azulgrana

see their new stadium grow into the shape twice a week, as I got a gf from Trnava. Her son even plays for their U6

Trnava should play their home game in Zlate Moravce, as the new stadium should be inaugurated on Aug 22nd.

You can follow the latest development of City Arena in Trnava here : http://www.cityarenatrnava.com/

Trnava played their first pre-season friendly with Albanian champ Korce, here is their line-up

Skenderbeau Korce - FC Spartak Trnava 0:1 (0:0), goal 74. min Sabo.

Spartak:

Jakubech - Godál, Nikolič, Bortel, Čonka - Sabo, Greššák - Schranz, Vlasko, Mikovič - Vojtuš (Kneževič, Casado, Cleber, Mikinič, Grabež).

Few days ago they signed bosnian AM Emir Halilovič from Hradec Kralove (Czech rep.)

Watch out for Erik Sabo and Jan Vlasko, they scored 11 league goals each, not bad for a midfielders. Vlasko is a fun to watch, exciting AM who does the silly stuff. Sabo is scoring machine, scored 19 goals last season in all competitions.

Vlasko hilites

Both Sabo and Vlasko are Slovak, yes? Potential for getting looks with the National Team?

Season is underway, newly promoted Skalica won its first 2 matches. Erik Pačinda has scored 3 goals -- way more productive than in years past.

I'll be in Slovakia between December 29th and January 3rd. I guess I don't have any chance of watching a football game at this period right? I watched Corgon Liga's fixtures and there doesn't seem to be any game at this time of the year. I'm wondering about the lower leagues.

Teams I like: Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia), Peńarol (Uruguay), Chicago Fire (USA), Volgar Gazprom Astrakhan (Russia), Vannes (France), Dundee FC (Scotland), Arsenal (England) and Hammarby (Sweden).

The 2nd league is shutdown as well. And I'd have no clue about 3.liga. My guess is that it is all shutdown until the area thaws out a bit.

On the other hand, hockey would be going strong then if that's any interest. Slovan will be on the road, but there are several Slovak league being played.

damn I like this idea! Thank you!! It's been a long time since I've seen a hockey game in Slovakia. Can you help me finding the games played in Slovakia at this period? (I'm afraid I don't speak Slovak well enough anymore).
I'll probably be in Blava the whole time, but I might move around a little bit.

You'd have 2 days of hockey being played, the Dec 30th and Jan 3rd. If you can, I'd recommend getting over to Košice on the 3rd, Steel Arena is way ahead of all the other stadiums. But you're closest to Nitra and Piešťany. There's still a few ex-NHLers in the league. Michal Handzuš for Banská Bystrica, Jozef Stümpel for Nitra, Ľuboš Bartečko for Poprad.

Here's the schedule:

No problem. Slovan moved over to the Russian KHL a few years ago clearing the way for Košice to dominate the league since.

Would have been nice indeed! I wish I could go to the Tatras too btw, it was my initial plan but finally went down for some reason. it's a pity Slovan doesn't play home at this period, but thanks for the info anyway! I might go to Nitra or Piestany instead, but I'll have to convince my co-traveller (it would have been easier to convince him if the game was in Blava).
