Surprised by two of the results. The first being DAC getting a valuable draw against Slovan and secondly Dukla thoroughly trouncing Myjava.

Myjava were a real surprise last season, especially with a strong second half of the campaign. And with some good squad additions in Filip Lukšík, Šulek etc and no real major departures I think a 4-0 loss at home might shake there confidence slightly.

On the flip side Dukla lost a whole lot of talent this summer, especially in the backline (Gyömbér, Hlinka, Adámik and now Tomáš Hučko). So to keep a clean sheet on the road and be able to put 4 past Myjava is a great start for them no doubt.

As far as the other results go, in my opinion there were no other real upsets or surprises. Perhaps the scoreline of 4-0 in the Trenčín-Nitra game.

Fanendo Adi hit the first hat-trick of 2013-14. Too early to assume that the big man from Nigeria will be an effective replacement for David Depetris but a great start for him and the team nevertheless.

Looking at his first stint with AS between 2009-2011 he scored 18 goals in 42 appearances and with a few more years of experience under his belt he may add an even greater output this time around.

Hey, you left out the other highlights! Drunk fans in Trenčín.

http://www.ta3.com/embed/A603B84F-C2...7654505D7.html

Hooliganism aside, interesting to see both Bukata and Duda get the start. I know Diaby had a small injury during preseason training in Austria so maybe that's why he didn't start, but I like seeing the youngsters getting the playing time, as long as they win. Poor showing from the home fans, but if they keep winning they'll turn out eventually. Diaby's goal was embarrassing for Kuciak.

Are these games streamed anywhere? Seems like there's one televised game a week, but they are not on the usual suspect's sites.

nice analysis mate.

yesterday Trnava signed two defenders, CB Martin Tóth from Liberec, slovakian ex-U21 who became free player after 12/13 season, and slovenian Matic Maruško (22) from Mura 05, also for free as his team went bankrupcy.

Thanks Kajoo. Yeah I read a little bit about both players on the teams official page. Spartak will now have Klabník, Adámik, Tóth and Banovič as primary CB's as well as Janečka and Karhan who can also play in that position if necessary.

It will be interesting to see which CB pairing coach Jarábek selects over the coming weeks. My money is on Adámik and Tóth in the short term due to their experience, but if there will be a repeat of last season's results no doubt the adjustments will be made sooner rather than later.

Kajoo just a quick question about Peter Štepanovský who I know played for Slovan beween 2008 and 2011. What position was he usually played in at Slovan? I vaguely remember him playing on the left side and he is listed as a winger/attacking midfielder on a few sites but I wasn't 100% sure so I thought I'd ask the expert!

thanks for the expert

Stepanovsky is one pacey guy so his natural position is winger, can also play wingback/offensive fullback. As for him on AM position, Weiss sometimes experimented with him when Slovan was in need to score (like vs AS Roma away when he replaced AM Grendel) but his natural position is on wing.

I'd gladly check it out for a month. Do you know if the matches can be watched outside Slovakia? I noticed I couldn't watch the highlights. I submitted a question to them in English, too.

hilites were working well for me, these are avalaible probably only from Slovakia. Try to change proxy settings, here´s how:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXzUInu6sVQ

Acc.their FAQs, certain content is avalaible only for users from Slovakia due to licence agreements.

Payment is no problem, you can pay by with credit card or by using paypal. The only problem can be that the site isnt in english, only in Slovak, which could give you small trouble during registration. Btw signing up for 6 months fee is 24,80 Eur, 12 months for 38,80 (month for 3,23 Eur).

If you need some help with registration let me know.

Good to see Banska Bystrica continue their strong start to the season. Not as spectacular as the previous game to Myjava but 3 points is 3 points.

Pavol Jurčo was also able to score in consecutive games and his tally of 3 goals for Dukla is almost a quarter of the goals he has scored in his past 4 seasons combined!

Also happy for Trnava who battled for a hard fought victory over Trenčín. Coach Jarábek chose Marek Janečka and the recently signed Martin Tóth as stoppers and both did well against a strong opponent with some tricky offensive players. After the game fans cheered Janečka's name after his solid display.

Fanendo Adi of Trenčín had an action packed final half hour of his match. After his superb display last week he came on for young Malec, scored in the 75th minute and then received a red card 9 minutes later. He now has 4 goals for the season and sits atop the goalscorers charts.

On a lighter note this game also had a little more significance in our household as my father supports Trenčín and me of course Trnava so I've got bragging rights until the next encounter

Šulek's goal for Myjava was put away very nicely and decided the result against Nitra whilst Tomáš Ďubek's double against Zlate Moravce handed them a win on the road and they sit second on the table pending the Slovan-Senica game.

Just quickly Stedanko if you read this, can I ask how's everything going with huste.tv?

Last year before June I was able to watch the full games and highlights through huste.tv for free but a few months later they introduced prices and also a region lock so I haven't used it since.

I am in Australia at the moment and I can see your location is also abroad to Slovakia so I'm interested in seeing if it all goes smoothly for you as I may be tempted into it!

Used it for the first time this weekend and watched the Košice-Banska Bystrica match. The quality was decent, it did have commentary. If you email them, they'll lift the region block.

On the game, I thought Košice had the better possession, but had no attach in the final third. Duda has some nice footwork, but needs some experience and improve his decision making. He can dribble through a couple defenders, but then makes a questionable pass. Haskić had one close chance in the second half, but was absent the rest of the time. Need more from him. Banska Bystrica just counter attacked and looked more dangerous in their chances. Just took one time for the defense to get burned, they looked like fish out of water trying to stop Jurčo. He should have had another in the first half if not for the rough pitch around the keeper.

Thanks for that information Stedanko. In my humble opinion Kosice have some really promising young talent as you mentioned Ondrej Duda, Bukata, Kavka, Huk has played in the national youth set-ups.
Erik Pačinda always intrigued me, he's 24 now so probably can't be considered a youth prospect but I know he had a loan spell with Tours in France last season. What are your thoughts on him?

Pačinda is going to be used a lot this year. He didn't get any time at Tours, much like Novák did when he was loaned there. He didn't really stand out in any way in his first start since returning. Just missed a sure goal on a nice cross from Tóth and hit the crossbar on his free kick in the 2nd half, but otherwise didn't provide much trouble. He will be interesting to watch, as he, Duda, and Bukata will all have big roles in the attack this season.

Well this week's feed was weak. Both the Košice and Slovan matches cut out for a good 20-30 minutes. Missed 5 goals between the 2 games. So take it for what it's worth. Also, the feed does get a little dark in the later games.

Some wild matches this week. Pačinda looked more dangerous at home, but against a struggling Nitra team as the whole attack saw more action. He had a nice setup to Viazanko in the first half that should have been put on goal, and added a lucky goal in the 2nd half sending a header off a defender into the net. Duda against showed off some good moves and ability to take on players directly. He had a nice play in the first half to burn the defense that was saved, and then broke through again in the second half to score his first senior goal. So far of all the youngsters he's stood out the most. Kavka needs the most improvement, and he's also the oldest, once Ostojić gets healthy he'll have a challenge for the CB spot.

huste.tv never put the full game up, but ta3 seemed to have all the highlights for the match:

I was happily surprised with the quality of games back when it was free but in saying that you would hope it would be a little more reliable then what you've mentioned, especially since you have to pay for it now.

Yeah very high scoring round. Can't say the 6-2 result in the Myjava-Trnava game was expected. Having heard the post match press conference, our manager noted Myjava were extremely effective converting those 6 goals from 7 or 8 shots and tearing us to shreds on the counter-attack. Not quite sure what to take away from match except for another inconsistent start to the season.

Košice look very promising, especially from an attacking point of view. Never a bad thing as you seem to have an even spread of contributors and the threat can come from anywhere. From the TA3 highlights Pačinda looked lively in most build-ups and Duda's solo effort was also very classy.

Next week should be very interesting between our teams. I hate to say it but Trnava is going to have one hell of a task stopping Košice. With the greatest respect to Myjava, I believe your team is the more dangerous out of the two and this can only spell trouble for our shakey defense. Going by previous results and form of both teams I would be very surprised if the game ended scoreless but stranger things have happened!

Trnava-Košice match was played in 35C+ heat and it showed. They took breaks at the 15th, 30th, and 70th minutes to replenish. Trnava looked the better team with more quality chances throughout the game. Mikovič particularly looked dangerous several times. He and Hodek had a couple point blank chances denied with a spectacular diving effort by Tofiloski, who came up big throughout. Mikovič tested him again with a rocket to the short side on wide angle.

As time went on, the teams looked more sluggish in the weather and the chances got fewer and fewer. Karhan didn't play for Trnava. Košice was happy to play it safe.

Hovančík returned from injury and took his spot back in DM, with Bukata moving back up to the left wing and Pačinda back to the bench. They didn't have much of anything generated until the very end when they caught Trnava cheating and picked up a 3 on 2. Haskič wasted it with a long range weak shot that sailed well wide. He was ineffective yet again. Duda nearly stole the game with another fine solo effort and narrowly missed. He really looks like the leader of the attack already at 19. Viazanko was invisible the entire match, and the right side of the defense looked suspect again.

In the end, they never really tested Filipko but Tofiloski bailed out the team. A gladly taken point on the road, 0-0.
