acc.FA official site, FA named Michal Hipp, assistant of former coach Weiss, to coach team Slovakia during the friendly game vs Turkey away played on February 29th, 2012.

Next fixtures are Poland away (May 26th) and Netherlands away (May 30th). Czech Gambrinusliga ends on May 13th, so Vrba will be theoretically avalaible for these.

The Slovak football federation says it wants Viktoria Plzen coach Pavel Vrba to take over the national team.

The federation says chairman Jan Kovacik was given a mandate to negotiate a deal with the Czech coach.

The 48-year-old Vrba would replace Vladimir Weiss, whose contract was terminated in January following the team's failure to qualify for the 2012 European Championship.

Vrba led Plzen to its first Czech league title and earned a spot in the Europa League after finishing third in the group stage of the Champions League behind Barcelona and AC Milan.

Vrba, whose contract with Plzen expires in 2013, says he is honored but has to discuss the situation with Plzen owners.

He was a Slovakia assistant coach in 2006-07.

Would be a huge blow to Plzen club IMO. I think Vrba would be better off to wait and not make a hasty decision. Can he be a combine Slovakia NT with Plzen just as Weiss did with Slovan? In the summer he can get better potential opportunities: foreign clubs, Sparta, and then there is potential for Czech NT should Bilek get fired (which is likely)....

Vrba alone said it´s impossible to coach two teams at once, so I doubt he will take two simultaneous jobs like Weiss did.

Slovak FA isnt in hurry to sign him right now. Hipp will lead squad vs Turkey this month, and next two friendlies are planned in post-season (see #3 above). Vrba can finish the season with Viktoria Plzen and take the job with Slovak NT.

I understand many czech fans are pissed because he was obvious choice for Czech NT in post Bilek era which everyone believes comes to the end after probably unsuccesfull Euro tournament. For Vrba´s personal ambitions, NT it s leap forward. Imagine him having an realistic chance to qualify for Brazil 2014, he would be dumb to turn out such an chance. This is offer he has on table, not some ifs and whens and rumours. He never got official offer to take over Czech NT and if Bilek´s squad will reach some success on Euro, he will be never offered the job. Realistically, he has just same chance to qualify to Brazil 2014 with Slovakia as with Czech NT, at least I dont see potential of Czech squad being much higher than ours.

Sparta ? If he will be succesfull with Slovak NT, he will have much better (or richer, depends on what you likes more) clubs to choose from than Sparta.
