UPL Round 7: Dynamo - Illichivets

Anyway moving on from tonights catastrophic disaster...
My team would be inclined at youth as opposed to foreigners

Rybka
Mikhalik, Yatsenko, Rodolfo, Nesmachnyi
Husyev, Rebrov, Correa, Aliev
Shatskikh, Vorobey

I know I will get slaughtered for daring to suggest Aliev and DV, but it has to be worth a try. Is Yatsenko out on loan?

Dynamo Kyiv are better than Shakhtar Donnetsk!

Hehe, never gonna happen!
Vorobey? who knows where he is now... He doesnt even score for Dynamo-2 anymore
Yatsenko? He's in Kharkiv on loan p
Mikhalik is not a defender... He played there a couple of times, but unsuccessfully really... He's more of a constructive player than destructive... Although he's still young and its a known fact that the best full backs are ex-wingers
The midfield could be OK, except Aliev... Personally I wouldnt mind giving him another chance after Luzhnyi had a talk with the boy, but at the moment he will continue learning his lesson in the reserve team at best IMHO.

Rybka?
I promised to myself to never say anything bad in Shovkovsky's way after the Swiss penalty thriller this June, but suggestions are alrite i guess: so please Sasha retire while you still can hold you head high...

Ok, I'll expain it p
Illichivets used to be called Metalurh Mariupol, but few years ago they changed it to Illichivets in memorance of the "great" (:rollani Vladimit Illich Lenin - the biggest commie (communist p) to ever walk this land.
Everyone hates this name in Ukraine, even the Mariupol fans themselves dont approve it, but the club says it was named after a local company or something...

Anyway, Banderstadt is called the Western Ukraine (particularly Lviv) who supported a local hero Stepan Bandera during the WWII in the liberation of the land...

P.S. ...as you know Karpaty beat Illich last round, so now its Dynamo's turn! p

So is the Full name Illichivets Mauripol or just Illichivets? if it is just Illichivets, then is it the only team in UPL not named after a place?
And what does the -ivets mean?

Dynamo Kyiv are better than Shakhtar Donnetsk!

I'll support DK in this one only because their win will help Karpaty in the standing. Otherwise, I don't care about political undertones when it comes to DK p

Shaxtar, Dynamo, Metalurg, Metalist - just a few examples of teams not named after a place. -ivets means belonginess to something. It's like a "Democrat" belongs to democratic Party or "Dynamovets'" belongs to Dynamo.

Yeah but the full names are all pllaces. Shakhtar Donnet'sk, Chornomorets Odessa etc. Does Illichivets name have the word Mauripol in it or is it just Illichivets?

Of course, it does. It's Illichevets (Mariupol'). All teams in former Soviet Union have city's name in it.

You got Danylovsky?
He was a very promosing Karpaty teenager few years ago... Too bad he left when we got relegated

P.S. Puchkov is very overrated in this game... I havent heard much of him in real life, but in FM he usually becomes a top CB...

btw, are there any updates for this game (i.e. latest transfers and are Karpaty playing in the UPL?)... I havent played the game for over a year. Back then I won the First Division in my debut year. By the year 2010 was one of 3 best teams, then finished 5 times in a row in second place, followed by 4 titles out 5 season from 2015 to 2020
Thats where I stopped! Feschuk and Gladkyi were my strikers! what a partnership it was! Fantastic! 20/20 Finishing each!

Don't think so, I just update the database manually everytime a major player transfers club (or any player at Southampton or DK). You can't change names tho because it corrupts the database. I tried to change Gusev to Husyev, but it messed up all the names. Shovkovskiys name changed to Trusevich. Interesting as Nikolai Trusevich was the GK in FC Start game against the Luftwafe in WWII.

BTW. Karpaty just beat CSKA Moscow 4-2 in UC 4th round. Bobovych (2), Benjo and Kabanov were the scorers.

Dynamo Kyiv are better than Shakhtar Donnetsk!

Yeah, he plays for the Reserve team most of the time, and comes on for the last 10-15 minutes once in a while... Used to be a hot prospect in Chornomorets 2 years ago and was actually a starter there
