Cooling

Not right now because I've just bought a 780 ti, but I was thinking of cooling my CPU an i7 3770K with some liquid solution, like the H110i...

the thing is that if it's going to be worth it to do so thinking that it might be a purchase that maybe in 6 months or top a year I'll be changing my motherboard and Intel comes out with some totally new type of socket )or not even that)....do you think that there is still at least a two year life span of current type of sockets (or similars)? in other words will be this cooling solution more than probably working on Intel new sockets or not? and as a subsequent question, how dangerous/improving/easy would be to overclock my i3770k if I purchase the cooler? thanxs in advance...

the rig:

1 i3770k at stock clock with stock cooler
1 NVidia Zotac 780 ti (reference)
16 GB Ram Gskill Ripjaws 1333
1 SSD 128gb OCZ Vertex 4 (Os Win 7 64bits)
1 WD Green 2TB
2 WD Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500JS 250GB
1 PSU CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 850w
1 LG DVD Drive

Ahwww yeah!

Late at night I just love to slowly expose my CPU. Gently move the wires aside and feel the heat radiating from its core. Then connect the valve and watch that liquid solution being inserted drop by drop until it's fully satisfied.

Woke AF!

I didn't think posting such pictures was allowed on Xtratime! I'm downloading them quick before they're banned!

Glad we could help you, Fangio.

But don't you even have the decency to thank us?

I'm not even sure I'd wanna help you out next time, at this point.

Actually I had to mount it with only one fan properly screwed, the other with just 2 and not precisely in a proper way..

BTW Yesil I was reading some reviews and I think the cooler is working a bit below par...I'm having like a 5 to 10 degress of difference from What I've seen..what can it be? what do you think I have to check? thanx man

Well, it could be a number of things. Your rear 120mm appears to be an intake instead of an exhaust. I dunno if this would affect the temperatures. Another thing, your fans are in a push only configuration. The advertised temperatures could be with push-pull (2 x 2 fans). Also, what temperature is your ambient? You should really measure temperatures relative to the ambient, i.e. delta T instead I'd absolute as you cannot theoretically cool to a temperature below ambient.

Yeap but still specially one of the cores is always fluctuating too much and hitting high numbers...yesterday I've OC the cpu to 4.6 (1.3 v) and when I'm not using the fans in full throtle, handbrake shuts down the PC..if using it, it holds its ground. But having those radiator fans at full is like having a Jumbo 777 in the room.

I don't know why, but I've tested a molex directed to the pump in the CPU and it wasn't detected...so I put it again in the motherboards CPU fan, still I would prefer having the pump directly to 12v of the PSU

In my first installation I wrongly (or rightly?) put the radiator fans in the OPT fan in the motherboard...as long as I had not installed the Asus Suite it was fine, but as soon as I've installed the Asus Suite and mess up with the Fan Expert tool, both the pump and radiator fans went full throttle and greyed so that I can't even configure them at all....

All in all I must say that when at this, I was able to push the CPU to 4.6, to OC the GPU in the meantime too and testing it with Arma 3 that shyte was flying, the same with Crysis 3...but is not possible to have the Cooler at all time at 100%, even if can handle it, the noise in normal or idle situations is too much to deal with..

So basically I don't have the feckeing idea of what to do...and I can't exactly try a push/pull config because of my old Cosmos....as much I can try it but one of teh fans would be misplaced and I might end hurting the radiator in the process..or I can put at least one fan in push/pull..

If I keep the config in only push...I think I'll try:

1- Pump 12v directly to the PSU, I'll buy another molex
2. I'll put the radiator fans plug into the motherboard (I think that CPU/OPT sadly aren't choices since I don't think that can be tweak) and try to find another (easy to use) soft that can send my fans to full throttle only when needed.

Do you know Yesi any sft that might help? or it's easier in the UEFI Bios?

thanxs in advance man
