Laptop screen pole cracked!

So, a month ago or so I opened the laptop lid and I heard a sound of a crack, then I can see that the laptop lid (that holds the screen) is not being securely held. The pole (Th hard and long metal bar holding the lid and allowing it to rotate) broke off at the right side. Today, When I opened the lid a second crack, and now the left side is broke too. Right now, I can't hold the lid at 90 or 120 degrees. It is either closed or wide open at approx. 180 degrees.

Can this be fixed, or should I always carry two or more books to hold against the back of the lid? :graon:

Before you do anything, take any important information off the computer before you try to fix it.

Thanks guys but the issue is not software nor hardware, it is actually a physical problem with the pole that rotates the notebook top, which holds the screen. So now, instead of the screen holding on 90 or 120 degrees it goes all the way back to 180. Nootebook still works fine.

It's easy, this is what you do --> Get your laptop, then jump out of a ten story window.

Without it gravity is just gravy.

Not sure it might work. Can you jump with your laptop and show me how it's done?

I took it to a repair shop. It can't be fixed Now a pile of books are mandatory if I want to use my laptop.

Sorry to hear that man. You could probably buy a whole new assembly with the brackets and everything, but it probably wouldn't be cost-effective. Wonderful excuse to by another laptop.

Well, I still can extract like 4 years of this one, and when it comes to laptop this is my philosophy. I on't know if I have posted a pic of my last laptop, but it was on life support for four years. It started with the some key strokes of the keyboard not working (early 2002), so I got a keyboard (later on I fixed this), the DVD stopped working (early 2004), so I got an external DVD, the the screen went blank (mid 2004), so I got an external LCD screen.

Only when its computing capabilities weren't adequate enough to support UML applications (1 GHz, 512M RAM), I officially declared its death in fall 2006 and opted for a desktop, and all what I had to do that time is to buy the box
