Thinking of getting an e-book reader

I have tons of downloaded out-of-copyright books on my computer. I am not reading them from the screen, and do not wish to actually print them.

So I have been thinking of getting one of these readers like the Kobo or Kindle. There is a local owner that I could buy a Kobo from right now and seriously considering it.

This could also be the usual procrastinating web-surfing though.

I saw my colleague's kindle once. It's neat and comfortable. Don't know about Kobo. How much is it, and does it have wifi and/or 3G connectivity?

If I look at things that way, I can say: I was born too early to be happy. But birth is one of the many things we do not get to choose. It is part of our destiny."

I'm starting to get convinced I could use one of these (or extremely bored in general). i will NEVER read all those pirated pdfs I have on the computer screen. I even have a school textbook that I don't want to buy in hardcopy in pdf, with a midterm coming in 2 weeks.

Just quoting this post to aid in the imminent copyright proceedings against you.

I decided to get it, but I don't think the woman will come meet me downtown or at some station as I don't have a car. It is very inconvenient to get to her location.

I may get the "Touch" version from someone else. That version has a way to underline, which is always good, although, I'd like to be able to write on my pages ideally.

Damn those things are ****ing slow though (I went to try one out at the store). I'd never imagine a common day 2011 device would take 2-3 seconds to turn a page or to underline 3 words.

Looking at online videos, the Touch looks great. You can pan in pdfs with reasonable speed. It came out a few weeks ago so would have to get it new. It is ~130 US.

I didn't know you could read?

However, now that has been established may I recommend if you have an Android phone that you use it as an ebook reader. I got the Kindle app for mine.

Keep your eyes on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk; they have good offers during summer sale. Also ebay might have good offers.

I went to buy a Kobo off a guy. He told me it was a touch. It wasn't, so I didn't buy it.

I might still get it after thinking about it. I really wanted good PDF support though.
