Russia's road to Euro 2012

Not a bad group but pretty tricky, all these teams have fighting spirit which is something we usually don't have.

Slovakia
Ireland
Macedonia
Armenia
Andorra.

I think we'll qualify, this is like the Russia-Yugoslavia-Switzerland group.

2002-2006 was the weakest point of our NT imo even if we did qualify twice in that period. I'm honestly more worried about our goal scoring than our defense. Our poor finishing usually costs us dearly.

Hopefully we'll see more contribution from the likes of Dzagoev, Mamaev, Rebko, Bukharov, etc.

depends on the new coach, as its unlikely with fursenko that hiddink stays, might be better as guus would stay with the same old players, but at the worst borodyuk could be his successor

Russian coaches aren't compatible with Russian players, I'd even take the guy in your avatar.

Advocaat to quit Belgium and he's meeting with Fursenko later this week. Would be a good move imo.

Dont worry from the Macedonian media and players it seems that 6 points will be given to Russia. First place is not even talked about (not that we have a chance) but at least the players could be fighting for it. It sounds like the goal is second before the games even start. And you know where that will lead us. Back to our 4th spot. I do think we have a fun group like I have said before. And with a WC team in Slovakia and 2 teams that lost in the playoffs it is the hardest group. With all due respect I think any of the top 3 countries can finish first. However, I do think Macedonia might f*** someone up with a draw or even a loss. We are only good for that.

Ex zenit president.

Hiddink situation is hilarious,he should had been sacked in december, now he stays till the end of contract, june 30 where he is official the new turkish nt coach?should not the new rus coach be working with the team preparing the euro september qual games?

So Russia will play 1 friendly in march and two more in june with Hiddink for what?

Fursenko is trying Semin or Gazzaev.

Looks like it will be Gazzaev since Semin will not leave loko again by any means.

Of course you can do like ukraine here but that is stupod in my opinion.

mutko still there as the head of the russian sport federation. wont be that much changed under fursenko, as both are associated with gazprom, both former zenit president etc.
kapkov, head of the national academy and a friend of abramovitch, was also a compatitor and a frontrunner, resigned from the election in december, that was also the reason guus left. unfortunatly a lot of politics involved.

sarsania new advisor for the national team, not unlikely that they will try to get advocaat back to russia.

Thanks for filling me in.

Kleber's right, them not having their next coach for these friendlies is a disaster ahead of Euro's unless Advocaat is named coach.

Russia will gain some self-confidence with a probable easy win against our "magical" boys so that's what that game is good for. at least for you. for us, it's just, well, the winter break is over and we officially still have a NT.

So, Hungary are going to get smoked I reckon if we play like we played against Belgium. Our U21's are playing on the same day so our stars from there can't be called up, Gera has quit the NT cuz of our coach, and now our best player by far Dzsudzsak is injured. Fukin gr8. Our team looks pretty shitty... Hopefully our D can step it up. We don't even have a proper goalie right now !!!

I don't think so bro, Hungary will play Russia hard in Budapest, but there won't be many fans probably.

nvm, Zhirkov and Kerzh not in the squad.
