But why Saturn of all teams, couldn't he have joined a ... hmm ... somewhat more interesting side? Why not Zenit or Dinamo at least?
My bet for the Championship is Zenit, it's about time.

zenith st. petersburg have just signed anatoly tymoshuck from shakhtar donetsk for a russian record fee of $19.8 million, he has signed a 4 year contract earning him more than $3.3 million a year, making him the top payed player in russia.

zenit have so far signed the following players for the new season:

alejandro dominguez - $9.3 million
pavel pogrenyak - $6.6 million
anatoly tymoshuck - $19.8 million
fernando ricksen - free on 3 year deal from rangers

bringing a total of $35.7 million on just 3 new players.

kerzkahkov left for $6.6 million while mares went for free.

zenit have a strong midfield and attack for the new season but i still think they need a quality cb and maybe a top left winger to have a complete squad.

very generous , thanX!! Saturn is an interesting side also. They have great training facilities and a good squad, they just tend to underachieve.

Btw. Saturn just bought Kirichenko from FC Moskva. Guess Moskva is hoping Krunic will be better?

Overseer,Timoschuk salarie is 2.3 millions,not 3.3 millions,i believe.

Zenit have the best attacking options, cska in crisis,Spartak with Pavluchenko out for one month and with a poor defense,Loko with a new coach and some new players,i bet on Zenit for the title and for winning the russian cup in may.

But they are no traditional team, are they? I know, that's not all that counts, but I knew all the sides from Moskva for example since I started following football and Saturn I only heard of in the past years (I'm far from being an insider into Russian football as you might have noticed, but it's getting more and more interesting over there in Russia and I suppose the Russian teams will make some impact in the Eurocups in the future).

Wow, what happened? I remember them buying everything that had two legs in Portugal. A pitty, kinda like them, since Maniche and Derlei had their golden days there and if I'm not mistaken they were the ones to offer Nuno Assis to us.

I really dont know much else about Saturn that they are rich and have good players that can challenge any team in russia on a good day.

I think next year will be a very good year for russian football in europe - maybe the best. And from then on it will only get better and better. Our league gets better and better for each year, and if the interest also goes up it will continue this way.

It would be great if we had someone like abramovich in a club outside moscow. Maybe its just a matter of time before that happens too...who knows.

Gogua joined Saturn.

Spartak Nalchik is the number one favourite to get relegated this year, they almost lost the all starting line up of last year.

What about Gazprom and Zenit, are they only involved in the stadium? I can imagine once building the new Arena they also want to make it seen in Europe.

I'm glad I found the appropriate sponsor for Benfica after a long seek.

20 million for Timoshchuk is a bit steep....

Bier, Saturn have some tradition, but of course they represent the reality of modern Russia, where a modest club (with good infrastructure and a steady crowd) from a wealthy town near Moscow is more competetive than potentially big clubs from big cities further east.

FORZA BEPPE SIGNORI!!!
FORZA BEPPE FAVALLI!!!!
KRYLIA SOVETOV

Venus, my homecountry, your women are the best, your cities the most beautiful, your religion the one and only, your nature ranks first, your men are the most masculine, your language a grace of sound, your food the most delicious, your history the most glorious, your culture knows no rivals. And of course we hate Uranus!!

Well that's not nothing to say the least, but reading the prices for top players in Russia it does for two reinforcements a year I reckon.
I begin to understand why at one point Dinamo began to purchase 'cheap' products from Portugal.
