Pervij Division 2006

Kuban leads and Ural is second, followed by Khimki. Looks quite good. Maybe we will see Dinamo and Torpedo go down and games in Ekaterinburg and Krasnodar instead.

Mouthwatering.

I understand they have already got these points back. I may be mistaken of course, but I don't think they've had such a huge handicap to remain on top even without 18 points.

Last week an important match took place in Ekaterinburg. Ural defeated Khimki 2-1 and now has a solid chance for promotion. Ural is not as big as the city of Ekaterinburg sounds, but I'd prefer them over Khimki of course.

After 36 rounds (of 44):
Kuban 85
Khimki 81
Ural 77

Khimki will play its next 2 games at home, while Ural faces trips to Nazran and Pyatigorsk.

At the bottom end, Orel will be relegated. Angusht and Metallurg are already gone.

16th October:
Mashuk Pyatigorsk 1-3 Ural Ekaterinburg, 1800
Khimki 2-1 KamaZ, 2300
Salyut-Energia Belgorod 0-3 Kuban, 4000

Standings after 38 matches
1. Kuban (88)
2. Khimki (87)
3. Ural (83)

4 rounds to go and Kuban are not through yet, but the result at Belgorod looks quite impressive.

A short look at the 3rd leagues: Zvezda Irkutsk will be promoted from the Eastern division, in the South it's a tight race between Spartak Vladikavkas (average attendance: 4927) and SKA Rostov, Nosta Novotroizk will be promoted from the Ural division, Tekstilshik-Telekom Shuya are likely to represent the West and the Central division is dominated by Spartak-MSHK from Ryazan.

With Angusht Nazran, Metallurg Krasnoyarsk and Oryol doomed for relegation and Spartak Nizhni Novgorod and Lada Togliatti likely to go down, the next season nevertheless should be very interesting. Especially thanks to both Spartaks and Zvezda!

He's still playing??

All I know is that Fakel potentially is one of Russia's biggest clubs with a nice stadium and a great fanbase. And now in the third league.

Russian football is frustrating.
