I think Spartak won the first game by 2:0, so they deserved to go through. Torpedo was a bit lucky, but anyway. When both Slovenian teams went out, it's good to see at least both Russian teams go through.

Caipirinha: 6 €
Brazilian NT shirt: 70 €
Flight to Rio de Janeiro: 400 €
Seeing Italian NT kicked out of major tournament: PRICELESS

Come on, Spartak can certainly beat Dinamo Bucuresti. OK, Torpedo has much more difficult task, but in football anything can happen. I am sure that at least one team will go through to the 3rd round.

There's a thread about national anthems in the music forum, and there is also a debate about the Russian anthem. Can one of the Russians in here go to the following thread and answer our questions?

yea ...
and bad for Torpedo Moscow:depress: ....they lose 2-0 against Villarreal:depress:

Riquelme double
Primera División contenders Villarreal won 2-0 against Russian contenders FC Torpedo Moskva after Juan Riquelme's two second-half goals.

Emphatic Spartak
Even more emphatic was FC Spartak Moskva's 4-0 success against FC Dinamo Bucuresti. Mihailo Pjanovic scored twice for Spartak with Maxym Kalinichenko and Aleksandr Pavlenko also getting on the scoresheet. To complete a miserable night for Dinamo, midfield player Ionut Badea was sent off a minute from full time.

Spartak striker hit by ban

The FC Spartak Moskva striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has been banned for five UEFA club competition matches, following his dismissal for violent conduct during Spartak's UEFA Cup first-round tie against Danish side Esbjerg fB.

Pavlyuchenko was red-carded for kicking an opponent in retaliation during the second leg in Denmark, which finished 1-1. The sending-off occurred in the 46th minute, three minutes after Pavlyuchenko had given the Russian team the advantage.

Spartak won the tie 3-1 on aggregate to progress to a second-round meeting with FC Dinamo Bucuresti - which the Moscow club lead 4-0 after the first leg.

Pavlyuchenko was automatically suspended for that game and will now miss a further four UEFA club competition matches. This will rule the 21-year-old out of the return against Dinamo, as well as Spartak's likely third-round games next spring and one other match.

:fero: that's bad news
