Anyone else have a feeling Forestieri is going to score?

He can certainly be difficult to bottle up. I imagine he will be policed by Christie mostly. I prefer to call the Italian just Ieri, for obvious reasons. I expect Derby will have to deal with him for the full ninety minutes, whereas he only played the second half at the Pirelli, so it would be unfair to mention Burton's 3 - 1 victory, but I'm going to anyway. Derby will need to really get at them.

I've just discovered that Forestieri was born in Rosario, Argentina, as was Lionel Messi, and that both began their youth careers at Newell's Old Boys, one of the two big clubs (the other being Rosario Central, the club that sold Horacio Carbonari - remember him? - to Derby) in Rosario, Argentina's second or third city, so it would appear that Forestieri is a naturalised Italian. Newell's Old Boys are rarely out of the news - for all the wrong reasons. The top hooligans in Argentina have traditionally had the covert backing of "their" clubs: In return for doing the chairman's dirty work, they get perks (tickets to sell on, control of the stadium car parks, etc.). It's lucrative stuff, worth fighting over. Newell's 'top boy' ruled from a prison cell but decided recently to step down, which sparked a violent succession struggle that claimed the lives of four Newell's hoodlums in the space of a month. Courageously, the club has been trying to exclude all the violent types from the stadium, but the cost to date has been a grenade lobbed at the stadium and shots fired from a car at the house of the club's secretary, even though there is a police car permanently parked outside the building. Messi has come in for criticism for (allegedly) employing a Newell's hoodlum as his bodyguard when he goes to Argentina to play for the national team.

F****t saved by goal difference.

Christie "policing" him, we're ****ed alm:

Who could forget Horacio from Rosario? One of mine and steel Neil's favourite players when we were lads.

The South Americans know how to do hooligans used to watch quite a bit of the Argentinian and Brazilian football back when the highlights were on channel 5

Carbonari is a legend. He could strike a ball.

Oh dear. We can't call you a part-time supporter any more.We expect a comprehensive (but not impartial) match report.

Carbonari was a top player. He said, "I don't know how the English players do it. They knock back the booze in the evening but they're all right for training the next morning."

Channel 5's coverage of the Argentinian league, though "cheap and cheerful", was always worth watching. Just about all the players were good on the ball, and when there was nothing happening on the pitch there was usually something going on in the stands. I tracked down one of the commentators, a Spaniard whose principal job was for a tv station in Madrid. He didn't know that we were getting his commentaries here in the UK (on Channel 5); he thought they were just going to the Far East. He told me that he had received death threats from Real Madrid hooligans for remarks he posted on his Spanish employer's website, criticising Roberto Carlos because, at the full-time whistle in the Bernabéu, he had handed his shirt to a hooligan who had just done time for a crime of violence. The funny thing about this was that the commentator told me that he had reported the threats to the police and had informed his girlfriend, but hadn't told his mother.

F****t saved by goal difference.

First game since Middlesbrough early on last season. It's been a long wait. Hopefully it's worth it.

Really enjoyable game, the second goal helped, but it was nice to see us continue to attack in the last 10 minutes, could have had another couple of goals.

Wesnesday will point to the possb penalty shout at 0-0

But for us that was more like the Derby we want to see.

Really enjoyed the game, rode our luck a bit, but got the reward for a positive display.

Though Christie has superb, been critical of him at times, but yesterday he did everything right.

Carson pulled of good saves when called upon.

Keogh and Pearce look a good partnership at the back, Pearce is everything you want from a centre half. Olsson was solid enough to round if a good showing from the back 5.

Hanson did a good job coming in as DM, a bit over zealous at times but did well. It also has to be mentioned his forward thinking passing is superb. I hope we see more of him this season.

Butterfield and Johnson were solid in the middle, passed, tackled kept the shape well, both had opportunities to score. Butterfield with a brilliant run beating 3 players in a tight space on the edge of the box. Got the shot of, well saved by the keeper.

On the wings, Ince was very good first half, even my mate who is the ultimate Ince hater as it seems were the people around us has to admit he was playing well, ran out of steam a bit second half though. Russell was industrious as ever.

Groaned when I heard on the radio that Bent was started, but he led the line well, good chance when he headed over after Christie won the ball and sprang a counter attack, held the ball up better than is seen him do previous.

Vydra looked lively when he came on, glancing header from a corner well saved.

Wednesday had a lot if possesion but a lot of it was sideways and backwards, thought we ran out fairly comfortable winners.

It was good to see Cyrus & Ince play well together, as it's often been said that they can't play on the same side.
