Villarreal have been announced as the replacement for Benfica as the showpiece friendly at pride park.

Not quite the name of Benfica, but a good team to play.

Updated the announced friendlies in the first post. Good mix of friendlies, a conference, league 2 and league 1 team, plus 3 European teams.

A Derby XI plays Belpet Town tonight.

Then it's the first friendly against Grimsby tomorrow. Don't think a friendly has ever been so anticipated.

Clement is taking a 23 man squad up there including 3 keepers, and says he hopes to give everyone 45 minutes.

Martin and Buxton aren't fit enough to take part yet.

2-2 draw for what was basically the u21 team. 2 goals from an 18 year old Polish trialist called Caspar Peachneak.

Clement played 2 different 11's in the first and second half. First half team lost 2-0 and the second half team won 1-0.

If you walk around Derby town centre today, my guess is the streets will be littered with dead bodies judging by the message boards last night.

Wrist slashers are out in force.

First half team

Grant

Christie
Keogh
Shotton
Warnock

Thorne
Hanson
Hughes

Ince
Bent
Calero

Second half team

Carson

Ssesswankambo
Albentosa
Pearce
Forsyth

Baird
Hendrick
Bryson

Russell
Sammon
Wiemann

We played the 433 formation. What's clear that old back 5 from last season just needs sacking off.

Writing must be on the walk for those 5. Don't think sseawankambo will be first choice right back, but otherwise think the second hld back 5 will be what starts, unless Shackell comes in.

Sseawankambo must have a chance to stake a claim, the second half defence should start the Northampton friendly.
