Signings: Nathan Ellington & Jordan Stewart

Rams sign Ellington and Stewart
Derby County have completed the double signing of Watford pair Nathan Ellington and Jordan Stewart.

Striker Ellington, who worked with Rams boss Paul Jewell at Wigan, has joined on loan for a year and will complete a free transfer switch next summer.

Defender Stewart, also 26, has signed a three-year deal on a free transfer.

Jewell told the club website: "If Nathan can reproduce [his top form], he has the potential to be the best signing of the summer in the division."

He continued: "I can't wait to work with him again and get him back to reproducing the type of football I know he can.

"Jordan is a great acquisition for us and someone who will have a big part to play in our promotion push next season."

Ellington played a key part in helping Jewell's Wigan win promotion to the Premier League but his career has stalled since leaving the JJB Stadium in 2005.

Stewart began his career at Leicester and moved to Vicarage Road in the summer of 2005.

Two good signings in my opinion, guys who are capable of playing in the Championship level

Nathan Ellington is a player whose career has gone downhill fast. He is still direct, big and strong but he has lost that goal scoring niche he had in his Wigan days. He is capable of brilliant shots but he is a player who seems to not want to play 80% of the time.

Stewart is decent. He gives you a player who can play all day the left which is a plus and he is very athletic and hardworking. I like him at leftback more then left wing as he doesn't have the ability to really beat players and swing in crosses.

Jibril has summed it up for me. Both signings aren't going to get you promoted.

Ellington needs some big inspiration to get his career back on track and Stewart just is an average championship player

Firstly...promoted hahahaha yeah right.
and in any case, Ellington in the form he showed while playing under Jewell in the past, can get you promoted, also we are still likely to bring in 2 more strikers before the end of the transfer window.

Stewart is a solid enough championship player, but has no guarantee of starting for us, he's no better than McEveley, but Jewell wants to good options for every position.
