St Mirren v Derby
Four kids get chance to shine at St Mirren
Four of Derby County's young reserves will be handed a chance to impress tonight.
Defenders Jason Beardsley, Miles Addison and Mitch Hanson, along with midfielder Matt Richards, will figure against St Mirren at Love Street (7.45pm).
Derby are in Scotland for Hugh Murray's testimonial. The 28-year-old St Mirren skipper came up through the ranks and has just started his 11th season at the club.
“It is a chance to look at a number of the young players who have been doing well in the Reserves, and we may look at one or two different positions and situations,” said manager Billy Davies.
“We will also play one or two players who need a game, so it's a good exercise for us.”
Davies spent three years at St Mirren as a player.
“When the invitation to play at St Mirren for Hugh Murray's testimonial reached me I had absolutely no hesitation in saying yes,” said Davies.
“I had three fantastic years there. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club and they gave me some great memories.”
Beardsley is an 18-year-old right-back who played in the Carling Cup defeat by Blackpool last month.
Addison, also 18, made two first-team appearances under caretaker boss Terry Westley at the back end of the 2005-6 season.
Hanson, 19, and 17-year-old Richards have yet to taste senior action.
