Kenny Miller - we've actually signed someone!

KENNY MILLER IS A RAM - EXCLUSIVE
Posted on: Fri 31 Aug 2007

Scottish international striker Kenny Miller completed his transfer from Celtic on transfer deadline night, the official dcfc.co.uk website can exclusively eveal.

One of a rare group of players to have turned out for both Glasgow clubs, Miller has signed a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee. He won't feature in Derby County's match at Liverpool tomorrow having not signed ahead of Friday's 12 noon registration cut-off.

Said boss Billy Davies: "We are delighted to have added to the squad a player with outstanding commitment and a never-say-die attitude who will be a real handful for back-fours in the Premier League. He is a proven goal-scorer both at club and international level and gives us a different option up front."

The 27 year-old made his name north of the border as a youngster at Hibernian before joining Rangers for 2-million in the summer of 2000.

He spent 18 months at Ibrox before moving south to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, initially on loan before completing a 3-million move to the Molineux side in December 2001.

Miller netted 61 goals in 186 games for Wolves, including a season in the Premier League in 2003/04, before he made the switch to the other half of the Old Firm and joined Celtic at the expiry of his contract in 2006.

He has registered 11 goals in the green and white, including three in two games this season, and has 32 international caps - with a further seven goals - to his name.

Well bugger me, I was wrong, we have signed someone, I was getting worried as the hours went by after the breaking news of us being in talks, but we've wrapped the deal up.

Nobodies first choice for a new striker, but he improves our options.

Really :dielaugh: not too sure he has many of them p

He was appreciated up here despite his lack of goals though. He works and works but doesnt have much of a killer edge to his game.

Yeah, not really a natural goalscorer, but Earnshaw is supposed to be here for that, someone like Miller to play with him will be good for us, and if he cn add a few more goals to his game then even better.

Kenny Miller is expected to join Derby from Celtic ahead of the transfer deadline on Friday.

The Scotland international striker was given permission to speak to Derby after the future of the former Wolves player had been in the spotlight all week after the Bhoys denied claims Miller had been transfer-listed by boss Gordon Strachan.

It appears he is on his way out of Parkhead as Rams chief Billy Davies desperately tries to sign a striker after missing out on Southampton's Trinidad and Tobago international Kenwyne Jones.

Miller was at Derby on Friday afternoon and, subject to a successful medical, will join the Rams for the rest of the season.

Elsewhere, reports suggest Wigan striker Henri Camara could make a late move to Pride Park while West Ham remain hopeful of landing Giles Barnes.

========================================

I saw him in a few games .
but from what I have read , seems to be very good sigining for Derby ..

good luck ..

Not exactly over the moon but at least its a striker who can score!!! :smileani: ... I think I would have liked to have seen a bit more movement though because its been proved already our squad isn't quite clearly good enough for this league

We hope and wonder.. but probably no more movement.. so I guess we gotta go with what we got now till christmas.. How many points will pick up till then LOL!!!!

Are you maybe mistaking him for Ruud Van Nistelrooy p

Not prolific by any stretch of imagination but works the forward line every minute he's on the pitch, maybe he just needs more luck in front of goal but more often than not he gets a chance or 5.

He scores though, every now and then, which will be a start for us

Todd - £750 00
Lewis - £500 00
Price - £300 000
Feilhaber - £1 million

Think we paid about 500k for Griffen as well.

If you look at it, we've spent over 13 million, I don't think we ever spent any more than that last time we was in the Premiership, yet this time everyone's maoning we've not spent any money. Just shows you how far the spending power has moved on since we've been away
