Carling Cup - Derby v Blackpool

RAMS LAND BLACKPOOL TEST
Posted on: Thu 16 Aug 2007

Derby County will host Coca-Cola Championship side Blackpool in the second round of the Carling Cup.

The tie will be played on the week beginning Monday August 27.

Simon Grayson's Blackpool earned their place in round two with a 1-0 win at home to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday evening.

The two teams haven't met since 1985/86 when each club won its respective away game with the Rams on the way to promotion from Division Three.

They've never before met in the League Cup.

Derby haven't been beyond the second round of the competition since reaching round three in 2001/02, when they went down 5-2 at Fulham.

As a Premier League club they automatically bypassed the first round this year and were seeded for Thursday night's draw.

Interesting draw, against a team we haven't played for ages, though knowing us we're bound to lose

Well the games tonight, was thinking of going to the game with Durkos, but am feeling a bit under the weather, so don't think I will bother.

Main hopes for this game are starts for Leacock and Jones, we really need to win just to get some confidence.

If we lose this, everyone will be jumping in the Derwent

I can see it being a draw, and then going to penalties.

Half time: 0-0

Well apart from Jones from long range we're still not lookin likely to score Jonesy is playing well, but as soon as he passes the ball to someone else they usually waste it, especially Camara.

Get Pearo and Howard on the pitch and lets try to win the bloody game, Blackpool not threatening too much, but the way it's going its gonna be 0-0, unless Jones scores a screamer, or we give another soft goal away and lose.

2-1 Craig Fagan with a header in 1st half extra time, and 1st goal of the season by a striker, seems as that's where Fagan has played today
