Barnsley v DERBY @ Oakwell 31.03.07

We don't play them for nearly a fortnight, but I'll start the thread early too warn of the Derby invasion, 4,000 tickets sold already, word has it from a Barnsley fan there giving us 8,000. Not got mine yet, probably get it tomorrow.

Howard is suspended of course, so there's probably going to be a lot of debate on how we play, 4-5-1 with Macken or 4-4-2?

It's not too far away really, so there's every chance of selling out whatever they give too us, now everyone is upbeat after the Cardiff win.

Old news, ran that story a couple of weeks ago, along with the, all the players have fallen out story, I'm not taking much notice at the moment to be honest.

I don't think Davies would do his credibility much good if he walked out on a 2nd club within a year.

Derby County have been given an extra allocation of 800 more tickets for the Coca-Cola Championship clash on Saturday March 31.

The bonus seats come after Rams fans snapped up the initial 6,000 allocation well in advance of the Oakwell encounter.

It is hoped that the new seats will go on sale from Friday afternoon but the bulk of what's available will be in a different stand, and at a higher price.

They will be priced at £22 for adults, £13 for fans over 60 and under 18, and £7 for those aged 11 or under.

Unbelieveable, and I haven't even got a ticket yet, I'm gonna have too hope I can get one of the 800.

THERE IS A GOD!!!!

Got a ticket, but only just already at 10am there's only 100 of the new allocation left. I've never known anything like it, football fever has hit Derby, all the talk is off this match, no-one is even slightly interested in England.

Can't wait for this now, it is going to be mental!!!

Incredible support, Derby's not a big place at all, the support we get for such a small city is fantastic.

Like they always say, Derby is a football town

We do very well pulling in supporters from outside of the city as well.

They've given us another 1000

The first 800 have already gone, and the ticket office expects the next 1000 to be gone at the end of the day, which will take the tally up too 7,400, wonder if we will get any more

7,400 is what we've been given and what we've sold, we're not going to get anymore Think it's due too there being a better turnout from Barnsley fans than there was for the Sunderland game...I'll be looking forward to this all week.

That is really pretty good from our fans to take that number of people up to Oakwell, should generate a really realli good atmosphere, make act like a home game for us, because no doubt our fans will be making more noise than they will !!!!!!!!

Derby County midfielder Stephen Pearson is still trying to shake off his foot injury in a bid to help the Rams' promotion push.

The 24-year-old Scottish international was injured in the defeat at Sunderland a month ago and has missed the last five matches.

He has been training for the past week and was pencilled in for today's private friendly against Notts County at Moor Farm, but will not figure.

This leaves him doubtful for Saturday's Championship clash against Barnsley at Oakwell.

"Today's game is a bit too early for Stephen and he is touch and go for Saturday, we'll have to wait and see how he is," said Rams manager Billy Davies.

A number of players who are short of match action will play against Notts County. They include Bob Malcolm, Richard Jackson, Mo Camara, Morten Bisgaard, Darren Currie, Paul Peschisolido and Lee Grant.

Derby have been boosted by Marc Edworthy's recovery from a slight knee injury.

Bloody hell we need him back fit asap!!!

Derby County won't rush Stephen Pearson back into action unless he is 100 per cent ready for a return.

The Scottish midfielder has been out of action since injuring a foot in the 2-1 defeat at Sunderland in February.

He has been making good progress but Rams boss Billy Davies will take no chances with the 24-year-old.

"Pearo is making good progress but we don't want to rush him back and end up losing him for five or six weeks," Davies said.

"The timing of his re-introduction is very important.

"I would probably say that if he's not back this weekend at Barnsley, it will be the following week at Leicester City

TEAM NEWS

Derby: Stephen Pearson is the Rams' biggest doubt as he continues to recover from the foot injury he picked up at Sunderland.

The Scotsman missed out on a behind-closed-doors appearance earlier this week with Tuesday's game coming too soon in his recuperation.

Michael Johnson is definitely on the sidelines with his hamstring problem likely to keep him out for the rest of the season.

Leading scorer Steve Howard starts a two-match suspension for picking up ten bookings this season.

Barnsley: Lewin Nyatanga is on loan to the home side from Derby, but is prevented from playing against his parent club due to the terms of his deal.

The Reds have also had three other players away on international duty this week.

Goalkeeper Nick Colgan was on the bench for the Republic of Ireland, midfielder Grant McCann started for Northern Ireland while striker Peter Rajczi was an unused substitute for Hungary.

Boss Simon Davey is hoping that the trio return unscathed ahead of the weekend.

THE REFEREE

Scott Mathieson is a late replacement for Kevin Friend in Saturday's clash at Oakwell.

The Cheshire-based official hasn't taken charge of the Rams since September 2003, when he was in the middle for a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.

This season Mathieson has blown the whistle in 33 matches and handed out 73 yellow cards, with a further five dismissals

I'm going to be confident and predict a 2-1 win, Barnes and Macken too score for us, my Hungarian mate too score for them.

Up bright and early for what will either be, the greatest game ever, or the biggest disappointment ever

It will be interesting too see how much we miss Howard and who replaces him, I'd go for Macken in a straight swap, keeping Barnes playing the sort of free role through the middle.

COME ON YOU RAMS!!!!
