DERBY V Cardiff @ PPS 17.0307

Another home game, and a big game arguably the toughest one we have left, but you would hope Cardiff will turn up looking to win, and the game will be a bit more open allowing us too play some football.

I hope Pearson is nearing fitness we could really do with him in the midfield, though his absence has let Barnes have some good games through the middle, games like Tuesday when Barnes isn't with it, we we're left with no real option to change it in the centre mid.

Main worry about Cardiff is stopping them scoring, our defence has been a bit dodgy the last few games, and they have the fire power to punish us.

TEAM NEWS

Derby: Paul Boertien (calf) and Michael Johnson (hamstring) will definitely miss the visit of the Bluebirds.

And Stephen Pearson is still struggling with the foot injury he picked up in last month's defeat at Sunderland.

Richard Jackson is back in training after his own knee problems.

Cardiff: None available at the time of writing.

THE REFEREE

Martin Atkinson takes charge of the Rams for the second time in the last month.

The West Yorkshireman, a regular in the Premiership, officiated the 2-1 defeat at Sunderland on February 24.

He needs just one more booking to bring up his century for the season, and in his 33 games he has also issued six red cards

Weekend fixtures to keep an eye on:

Friday - Southampton v Colchester

Saturday:

Preston v Burnley
Norwich v Stoke
Sheff Wed v Wolves
Sunderland v Hull

Sunday - West Brom v Birmingham

COME ON WEST BROM!!!!

Don't really fancy any other upsets. Stoke could lose, though wouldn't be much of an upset.

Nah their just a miserable bunch of ...

I personally refuse to be drawn on anything to do with Derby at the moment, I just shrug my shoulders and say we'll see what happens in May

It seemed to me that we looked a bit tired on Tuesday, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some changes made for this game. Could be a game too drop Barnes to the bench, to gve him another kick up the backside for the run in. Maybe Currie comes straight into the side, though as he hasn't played much football recently a place on the bench first maybe.

I wonder about giving Bisgaard a start, he played a big role in getting us too the top, and has become a bit of a forgotten man, with only rare sub appearances recently.

I'd like to see Pearson back in the side, but depends if he is fit of course.

big game. cardiff can easily make it to the play offs (more importantly u may lose out on automatic promotion), hopefully Chopra will be on his scoring shoes.

I just have a bad feeling about this one for some reason, 2-1 Cardiff.

I'm more confident about this one than the QPR game, i expect a more open game which will suit us more, and we will take the win 2-1. Howard and Jones to score.

I feel like Jimbo in many ways, because Cardiff like to play their football and like to give teams space to play their football, ermm Im gonna type for a nice 2-0 win here, with Howard and Oakley to get the goals!!

Derby County v Cardiff City - (Home 10/11 Draw 9/4 Away 5/2)
Darren Currie could make his debut for Derby after arriving on loan from Ipswich Town, while Stephen Pearson is doubtful with a bruised foot.

Michael Johnson (hamstring) and Paul Boertien (calf) are missing as The Rams look to move top of the table, albeit potentially for just 24 hours.

Cardiff could have Darren Purse available after a back complaint, although fellow defender Glenn Loovens is a doubt with an ankle injury.

Striker Steven Thompson is expected to be restored to the starting line-up at the expense of Jason Byrne after scoring as a sub against Southampton in midweek.

Skysports.com prediction: 1-1

I'm sure Jones would like Purse and Thompson to play, too give them that physical prescence that we don't like to play against...

3:1 victory for Derby, Howard with two goals but he will miss the next 2 matches because of too many yellow cards

Great win, Barnes's goal was just amazing, good too see Howard get a couple, but bad news he will be suspended. Knew as soon as Chopra went off we would win, they were clueless without him.

Ref did us a favour with handball decisions but other than that gave us nothing, good solid performance

Well done on your win, though sounds like at the time that you may have been lucky when Chopra went off injured

Yeh a very good second half showing against a very good Cardiff team, even though I have the penalty desecion was very dodgy apparently, but oh well, hes the same ref who gave us a penalty against us vs Sunderland, for a so called challanged from Marc Edworthy soooo I don't care

Yeah wouldn't have minded a West Brom win, but a draw is dropped points all round, glad Wolves dropped points as well, the "Central" sports coverage over here is so West Midlands biast it makes me sick, I hope none of their teams go up.

Yeah, he was causing us some major problems, showed Cardiff up as being a bit of a one man side though, can't remember them even having a shot on target after he went off.
