DERBY V qpr @ PPS 13.03.07

Well a must win game, I think all the home games are now, if we win all of them, we won't be far away.

The return of John Gregory, who will no doubt be in for a lot of stick, something I usually don't agree with, Gregory is the exception, the man is just an arsehole

Something along the same lines as the Colchester game would be nice

TEAM NEWS

Derby: Central defender Michael Johnson is the major absentee with his hamstring injury that could rule him out for the rest of the season.

Paul Boertien is also on the sidelines with his knee problem but there are no other big concerns for the Rams.

QPR: The visitors signed former Derby midfielder Inigo Idiakez on loan from Southampton last week and he is set for his first return to the club since leaving in August.

Rangers boss John Gregory - himself an ex-Ram - will be without two men who have moved from Pride Park to Loftus Road.

Goalkeeper Lee Camp is on loan with Rangers until the end of the season but is prevented from playing against his parent club.

And midfielder Adam Bolder, who joined on a permanent deal in January, is also ruled out due to a clause in his transfer.

Club captain Marcus Bignot came back on Saturday after two months out with a knee ligament injury.

Rangers' attack is likely to be led by Dexter Blackstock, who scored three goals for Derby during a loan spell last season.

THE REFEREE

Steve Tanner makes the journey up from Somerset to take charge of a game at Pride Park for the first time.

He officiated over one of Derby's most memorable results so far this season, the 1-0 win at Leeds United back in December.

And he was also the man in the middle a month previously when the Rams were 2-0 victors at Luton Town.

Need a win here, the Brum result was a bit disappointing, but won't matter much unless we slip up here. We don't want another former manager coming to Pride Park and leaving with a draw (Burley & Brown).

Other mid week games too keep an eye on...

Coventry v Wolves
Norwich v Birmingham
Preston v Ipswich
Southampton v Cardiff
Sunderland v Stoke

West Brom v Crystal Palace (tomorrow)

Best chances of results going our way I think is, Stoke frustrating Sunderland, and Coventry getting something from Wolves. Norwich can be a dangerous side at home, especially now playing with no pressure, so maybe they could upset Brum.

I fancy Stoke more than Norwich, Stoke are the masters at playing the top sides sticking everyone behind the ball and frustrating their way too points, the problem for them is playing the teams at the bottom who have the same idea.

Derby were very lucky that only Preston won the three points, QPR at home is a game that Derby must win!

Another point chalked up, and another game ticked off where we remain in a automatic promotion place, is how I like to look at it

Birmingham must be the worst side to be 1st at this stage in recent history. seeing them miss out on promotion will probably make me even happier than the pony botherers doing the same thing

Cant believe how tight this league is though.
Brum lost too southend etc... every team could do that, and work it out so they could go up, if you took away all the points we have nicked of teams with late goals, then we'd be struggling to make the play offs.

And for the record, if we got into the play offs and lost I would not be unhappy, considering where this club was this time last year, that would be a remarkable achievement. Going up would be unbelieveable.

For a while I've thought I just can't see them going up, but they have kept on scraping wins, personally think Sunderland will win it.

I'm not a greedy person

And I like the Championship, we won't ever have a season like this in the Premiership.

The draws a bit disappointing, but it's not turned out so bad.
