Sunderland v Derby @ Stadium of Light 24.02.07

The last game in February, and we could do with a result, after going through November with a 100% record and Billy getting manager of the month, we lost 2 and drew 1 game in December, we go through January with a 100% record, and Billy gets the manager of the month, we lose 2 and draw 1 in February...we'll finish this month of with a win, and then have 6 wins out of 6 in March Well you never know . . .

I actually think playing good sides, wo will concentrate on their own game, rather than just stopping us play suits us, we're also suited to playing away and counter attacking, hence our great away record.

It will be a tough game though, they seemed to run out of steam in the 2nd half against Brum, so a repeat of the S'oton game would be good.

I'm going for a 1-1 draw, which wouldn't be a terrible result, Leacock has been ruled out of the match, so Michael Johnson could play again, which ends any hopes of a clean sheet

You know what, I'd rather we played Edworthy centre back again, he might be small but he gets stuck in and can win a tackle and a header without giving a free kick away. And that's where our problems have been the last 3 games, giving away silly penalties, free kicks and corners, play Mears right back, he's looked quite good when playing.

I think we will miss Leacock immensley on saturday, his presence really is missed in our back line, especially in a huge game this weekend

Going to sunderland is never an easy place to go in the league, or indeed any other time, I think to get a draw would be considered an excellent result at the weekend, and with Birmingham playing Hull City ( who would expect to pick up maximum points in that game )

Im gonna go for a 1-1 draw me thinks, sitting on the fence !!

Derby: The Rams have defender Darren Moore available again after suspension, but his return is countered by the absence of Dean Leacock.

Leacock was suffering from a knee injury ahead of the game against Stoke City on Wednesday and lasted only quarter of an hour before being replaced.

Moore could step in at centre-half, as could Marc Edworthy - who moved across admirably from his normal right-back position.

Sunderland: On-loan full-back Danny Simpson is a doubt after suffering a thigh injury in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Birmingham City.

Boss Roy Keane rates Simpson's chances as "50-50" but has options to replace the Manchester United man if he has to, with Stanislav Varga or Kenny Cunningham the likely candidates.

Midfielder Dean Whitehead is suspended, while defender Stephen Wright remains on the sidelines having been out since August with an ankle injury.

THE REFEREE

Yorkshireman Martin Atkinson is a regular on the Premiership circuit this season.

Atkinson has issued 83 yellow cards and dismissed four players in his 29 2006/07 outings.

He was last in charge of the Rams on January 2 last year, for a 2-1 defeat at Millwall.

Oh yey another Premiership referee

Whitehead is a big loss for them, he's been in good form recently.

Right then, the team I'd like to see play tomorrow,

Bywater

Mears - Edworthy - Moore - McEveley

Teale - Jones - Oakley - Pearson - Lupoli/Barnes

Howard

The only question for me is Lupoli or Barnes to start, both should get some playing time.

Cardiff beat Preston 4-1, making things unbelieveably close at the top now, only 7 points seperate the top 8.

bloody hell, that 2nd half is the best we've played in ages and we still go and lose, what was it 8 games without conceeding a goal, and now we're giving away goals for fun, to be honest I've just lost confidence in our ability to stop the other team scoring, 8 goals conceeded in 4 games is not promotion form.

I just can't believe that penalty decision, surely we've got to be due a penalty given too us for absolutely nothing???

Looking on the brightside, Barnes's goal was just sexual a goal like that deserves to win a game.

Barnes is useless on the wing, can't cross the ball for a start, if he's going to play on the wing I'd rather he wasn't on the pitch, through the middle is where he wants to play and where he's best, the trouble is fitting him into the side, losing in this game meant we just went for it with Barnes through the middle, after he scored he got put back on the wing, and didn't do anything of note in the last 20 mins.
