DERBY v Stoke @ PPS 21.02.07

The big one, well for me at least I will find out tonight, whether my manager at work will be nice and give me the day off, or I have to go sick

Some idiots talking about it all going pear shaped 2 defeats in the last 19 league games . . . SACK DAVIES!!!!

Stoke are struggling for strikers apparently, so they'll turn up looking for a 0-0.

It's a game we need to win to get the confidence sky high again, we should get something out of the game at least, I can't see Stoke beating us.

Tony Pulis admits he could be forced into handing Adam Rooney his first start of the season at Championship pace setters Derby County on Wednesday night.

Ricardo Fuller's sending off and Mamady Sidibe's injury has given the City boss a major selection headache as he aims to rejuvenate the club's promotion push.

He says: "We possibly have Ricardo banned for three matches now, Vincent is struggling and Mama is going for a scan.

"We only have young Adam left so if I have to throw him into the team on Wednesday that's what I will do.

"He had a good half hour today and he did well, he ran about and did his best for us but I will be on the phone first thing Monday morning looking to get someone in "

The goalless draw with Luton has left the Potters six points adrift of the play off pack and Pulis says the players have got to become more clinical in front of goal.

"We need to be more ruthless in the final third, again we have created chances and again we have failed to capitalize on them.

"I understand the fans frustration but we need them to stick with us, this is a difficult period for us but we can overcome it," he adds.

There's the striker problems, it'll definately be a 10 men behind the ball job, though that's what they usually do anyway.

Heyyyy come on surely there must be pressure on Billy Davies now, 4 conceded in 2 games in not good enough , you just can't please some fans can you

At least we have another game to we the appetite this week, could be an all important one as I'm sure Birmingham play the night before, sooo we could be potentially just one 1 point ahead, I'm sure Billy won't tell the boys what is needed to beat Stoke, we know they are a no-nonsense team, who ouff ouff ouff the ball upfield

Can't wait for the game persoanlly, should be a good one !!!

Brum v Sunderland on Tuesday night, if Brum win they go top, won't be easy though, Sunderland are definately in the automatic promotion race if they beat Brum.

TEAM NEWS

Derby: Man-mountain Darren Moore sits out the game with a one-match suspension having been sent off in the FA Cup fifth-round defeat at Plymouth.

Back in the frame however are skipper Matt Oakley and forward Craig Fagan, who have returned from bans of their own.

Gary Teale and Jay McEveley are also in contention again after being cup-tied for the Plymouth game.

Stoke: The Potters have a number of key players on the sidelines.

Striker Ricardo Fuller is banned for four matches having been sent off in Saturday's 0-0 draw at home to Luton.

He is joined by the injured Mamady Sidibe, while Vincent Pericard is a doubt.

Teenager Adam Rooney could be handed a first start of the season unless boss Tony Pulis can bring in reinforcements.

THE REFEREE

Keith Stroud has a record of 65 yellow cards and three dismissals in 25 games this season.

The Hampshireman was also in charge for the corresponding fixture last season, which the Rams won 2-1.

At least we haven't got a premiership ref this time . . .

He's doing well, he set high standards very early on, so if he doesn't have a brilliant game, people get disappointed.

He's our dead ball specialist, creates a fair few goals from his free kicks and corners, scored an unbelieveable free kick in ythe last minute against Wednesday to win the game, but really should get on the scoresheet more often, hopefully the goals will come.

Birmingham draw and now West Brom are in second place but they have 2 more games than Derby. Stoke will be a somewhat of a challenge but Derby should get the three points

Yes, Brum only draw with a last minute equaliser, but that is probably the best result as Sunderland are looking very good and I fancy them too maybe even sneak in the top 2 themselves, West Brom and Preston both winning, but Southampton lost to Coventry, if we can win we will be in a great position going into the Sunderland game.

Billy Davies says the Rams needed no lifting to get them ready for tonight's Coca-Cola Championship clash with Stoke City.

Derby suffered their first defeat of 2007 when they went out of the FA Cup at the fifth round stage with a controversial defeat at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

It was a disappointing afternoon at Home Park but Davies says the players' spirit will guide them through.

"We were disappointed but we have not needed to lift anyone because the spirit and resolve is excellent," the boss revealed to RamsWorld.

"The lads know themselves that they were dealt a harsh blow by what took place but that is football.

"Now we look to the league, our bread and butter, we want to be successful and we will give it our best shot."

Derby's side is likely to see several changes to the one beaten at Plymouth.

Definitely missing out is experienced defender Darren Moore, who is suspended after being sent off for two yellow cards at Home Park.

Free from bans however are Matt Oakley and Craig Fagan, while Gary Teale and Jay McEveley are back in the frame after being cup-tied for last Saturday's game.

Marc Edworthy and Bob Malcolm were rested at the weekend and will also be in contention again.

"We have a good number of faces coming back in to give us that freshness," Davies added.

"Unfortunately we have lost Mooro, which is a blow for us, but we have got good players coming back in and we are all looking forward to the game."

ah yes Birmingham result went our way, now we need to do our bit, and keep that gap, if we can keep around a 4 point gap going into the last 10 games that would be brilliant.

I'm gonna go for a 1-0 Derby win, can't really see their being more than 1 goal in the game, and a 0-0 draw wouldn't surprise me, but a Stevie Howard header will win it.

I was far too pissed off to comment last night, it was just a complete disaster, I didn't understand the team selection, especially dropping Pearson, and like I said, what happens when we play 442, we lose 2-0.

Again we give away a bloody penalty, and as soon as you give Stoke the lead, your in trouble, and just as things seem like they can't get any worse, Leacock has to go off injured, and your left with Edworthy and Johnson as centre halves Edworthy did well, but he's a small full back, 1st cross in the box and Stoke score a header, and if they'd been interested in trying too score more they would have.

We had chances 2nd half, but everything went straight at the keeper, then Lupoli scored, and I just couldn't see how he was offside, i'll have to see if theirs some highlights to watch it again.

This has really pleased the doom and gloom merchants, who now say we won't make the play offs
