Southampton v DERBY @ St Mary's 03.02.07

Next stop Southampton, the hardest games on paper we have left are this one and away at Birmingham. But with our current form and general away form, we have to be confident of picking up points.

Southampton play tonight, so we already have the advantage of 24 hours more recovery/preparation time, a shrewd move from Billy to get our game brought forward to the tuesday.

Will be a tough game, but also should be a good game off football.

Coca-Cola Championship leaders Derby County look set to be backed by a sell-out away end for Saturday's game at Southampton.

Billy Davies's Rams went six points clear at the top of the table by beating Burnley 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Now they head to fifth-placed Southampton for what is shaping up to be a big game with over 2,500 tickets sold.

The game is all-ticket for Rams fans and with none available on the day of the game, they are available to purchase until 6pm on Friday at the Pride Park ticket office.

Derby's remaining tickets from an allocation of 3,200 are on general sale priced at £22 for adults, £17 for fans over 65 and aged 13 to 19, and £10 for fans 12 and under.

Got my ticket the day after the Southend game, and I'm staying down Southampton saturday on the beer, so really looking forward to this one. If we get a result it will be a great day.

I'll try, but I'm not promising anything, especially if we win

I'd be happy with a draw from there, and with the cushion we now have it would be a very good result. But with the run we are on we have to fancy our chances of winning.

Hmmm this is a massive game I appear to be saying this about every game but this is a big game, as we can start to possibly build a gap at the top of the league, and Southampton also wanting to consolidate a play-off postion

Like Jimbo I think I would be very very happy with a draw down there, but a win there would be something very very special as well

I think that 24 hours extra we've got will get us something out of this game at least, everytime we played on a wednesday we struggled on the saturday against a team that played tuesday, that's why Davies was so desperate to get our game moved this week. We've had a whole 24 hours resting and preparing, while they've still had Sheff Wed to think about.

And I can't see a 0-0 result, there will be goals in the game, I'm confident we can score, but it'll be very hard too keep them out.

Team News

Derby: The Rams have new signings James McEveley, Tyrone Mears and Jon Macken available for selection, and all three will be pushing for their debuts.

Boss Billy Davies has plenty of welcome selection headaches to contend with, particularly after a run of seven successive victories.

Saints: George Burley will be without centre-half Darren Powell, who pulled a thigh muscle in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday and will be out for several weeks.

Goalkeeper Kelvin Davis faces a possible x-ray today after taking a kick to the chest, while striker Kenwyne Jones is a doubt after hurting an abductor muscle in hte same game.

Ex-Rams Inigo Idiakez and Grzegorz Rasiak both played against the Owls and will be wanting to take on their former club.

Saints have also received a boost with news that Gareth Bale is staying at least until the end of the season.

THE REFEREE

Derby have a 100 per cent record when West Yorkshire's Jonathan Moss has officiated - one win from one match.

Moss was in charge of the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace game in December, when he handed out three yellow cards.

His season's total is 66 yellows and three reds in 28 matches.

I agree with the thoughts that a draw would be a good result, a win would be fantastic, but we should be pleased if we can get a point. I predict 1-1 Stevie Howard again.

A prediction then, 2-2 draw, a game with a bit of excitement

Howard and Pearson to score for Derby.

Hmmmm I think this could be our first defeat on the cards here, I'm gonna tip for a Southampton 3-2 win here, I was saying earlier that I would sooner us lose this game rather than losing to a team which we should be beating

Southampton - Rasiak 2 and Bale (Rasiak scoring is sod's law realli)
Derby - Howard and Fagan

Up bright and early, a long drive ahead so I hope we can get something today, it actually makes me laugh how negative Derby fans actually are, Brum fans are the same as well, yet we're in the yop 2 positions, yet I've seen Southampton fans who are certain they'll win the league
