Southend v DERBY @ Roots Hall 20.01.07

A trip too the bottom club then, but they've had a couple of decent results recently so it won't be easy. But you still have to expect 3 points, Lupoli did the damage at Pride Park, I wonder if he'll start again, or wheter Fagan or Pearson will come in.

Not sure whether I'm going yet, I would like too, hopefully we won't have a trip there for a good few years after this one so get down there while you can, we'll have too see though it's not cheap, and it's a long way, next away game's Southampton as well, and I definately plan too be there, I'll clock up some mileage if I do both

Well, eh.. yes. Unfortunately.

Where's the other end? My eyes seem to blur when I try to look higher than 19th or 18th place.

Even though I have moved country, Southend will always be my home club so I hope we give you a run for points!

On that day my derby county shirt will be out of the house haha

You have a Derby shirt? What made you get one?

Oh and they won't sell Eastwood, they want too much for him, they'll do what we always used to do, reject big offers, then lose players for peanuts...

Southend play Barnsley in the cup replay tonight, will be interesting too see what team they put out, they played pretty much a 1st team in the original game from what I can tell, if they do so again, there's a few extra days rest for us, which could be important

Southend wins 2-0 at Barnsley. Please beat them and stop their winning series.

It was a full strength side out for Southend, Eastwoon, Campbell-Ryce, Maher etc... So that gives us a little advantage straight away

Southend United Chief Executive Geoffrey King has urged Blues supporters to continue their party time atmosphere in this Saturday's Championship game.

Blues supporters were whipped into a frenzy at Oakwell last night as they witnessed Southend progress in the FA Cup.

Kevin Maher and Lee Bradbury's strike was enough to seal Steve Tilson's teams' passage into Round Four of the competition.

And whilst the players were doing the business on the pitch, Blues supporters were making themselves heard in the stands.

A contingent of around 100 dancing Southend fans, both young and old, lead a conga up and down the away end in South Yorkshire.

Their merry jig was joined by a rendition of Johnny Cash's 'Ring of Fire' which lasted well over 25 minutes and now Southend are calling on their fans to sing out again on Saturday as Derby County visit Roots Hall.

"It was amazing," recalled King. "It was one of those goose bump moments and the atmosphere created was excellent.

"It would be great if we could do that at Roots Hall every week, hopefully the fans can start the chanting up again as the teams come out this weekend.

You don't see enough Conga's at the football.

TEAM NEWS

Derby: Matt Oakley and Ryan Smith are expected to be in contention again after shaking off a virus that ruled them out of the win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Three players made their Rams debuts that afternoon - Gary Teale, Stephen Pearson and Craig Fagan.

Pearson and Fagan appeared as second-half substitutes and will be pushing for their first starts.

Southend: Spencer Prior is still struggling with a groin injury and wasn't risked for the Shrimpers' FA Cup win at Barnsley on Tuesday night.

Former Grays Athletic winger Mitchell Cole also missed the clash at Oakwell with a hamstring problem.

THE REFEREE

Iain Williamson oversees the Rams for the first time this season.

Berkshire-based Williamson last blew the whistle in a Derby County game almost 12 months ago when he took charge of the 1-0 defeat at home to Sheffield United in February 2006.

This season his card count stands at 94 yellows and six reds from 22 games.

This has a potential banana skin written all over it this one does, ermm Southend not doing to great at the bottom of the league, and we are flying at the top of the league!

Im just worried, thaat we might lose this one. I really hope we don't but with Birmingham absolutley thrashing Newcastle in the cup, they look like they could really finish the season strong, ermmmm I think if we can get a win here, and maybe ourselves top it would be just be tremendous because then teams we have to start to really win games, because like callers were sayin after the Sheff Wed game, theres not many teams we really should fear now!!
