DERBY v Leicester @ PPS 25.11.06

There not doing too great at the moment, we're doing awesome, but we always bloody draw with Leicester...

Should be the biggest crowd of the season so far, on the back of 4 wins, and it (supposedly) being a local derby, not convinced they'll bring much more than 2,000 though, so it won't be a massive crowd, probably 27/28,000

Even though we've won out last 2 home matches, we've still not been convincing, that's all we're missing, if we can start too perform at home, who knows what we can achieve.

Team selection then, does it need changing, probably not. Definately no change in the back 4, keep Boertien ad Moore in,

Midfield, I'd still like to see Ryan Smith get a start, a natural left footer on the left wing, wonder if Jones will get a start, maybe but Seth has been playingwell, it would be harsh too drop.

Lupoli's been getting frustrated at being on the bench, but how do you drop Howard or Stead, both having 2 goals in 2 games???

Derby County are hoping to be roared on by their biggest crowd of the season as interest in Saturday's East Midlands clash with Leicester City gathers pace.

Four consecutive victories have seen Derby climb to fifth in the Championship as they prepare to face their neighbours.

And manager Billy Davies has issued a rallying cry in the build-up to the Pride Park clash.

"This is a crucial time in the season for our club and the vocal support the fans can create on our home patch could make all the difference," he said.

"Let's go all-out to beat the attendance when Sunderland visited earlier this season and generate a fabulous atmosphere."

Derby's best home crowd of the season so far is 26,502 for the defeat by Sunderland in September - a gate swelled by 4,707 visiting supporters.

Leicester have already sold 2,000 of their 3,500 allocation and around 23,500 tickets had been sold for the game at lunchtime yesterday.

The gate when the teams met at Pride Park last season was 25,044.

While the Rams are enjoying an impressive run of results - eight wins and two draws in their last 12 League matches - the Foxes are down in 18th place following one win in their last six.

But Leicester boss Rob Kelly is ignoring the form book.

"This is a derby game and everyone likes to be involved," he said.

"All our players, staff and supporters are looking forward to it. There is always a bigger crowd and a different tinge of excitement.

"Derby are our near neighbours and they have done really well in the early part of the season.

"Billy [Davies] has spent wisely, he knows the division and has brought in some good players.

"They are on a roll, but form goes out of the window in derby matches."

Derby fans can save up to £3 by purchasing a ticket before the day of the game

Lupoli must realise that as long as Howard and Stead are doing well he will have to settle where he is and then when given the chance, explode on to the scene. Possibly he can play left midfield again but more likely Davies should just let him know he will get his chance and when given to him, he must perform.

Because you won't sell anymore

You never have done in the past, if you do sell them out, you'll probably be able too pay on the day.

It's been quite funny seeing SOME Leicester fans coming on the Derby mb's, trying too give it the big derby day build up, not many are buying it though

I've only ever had any hatred for Leicester, because it seemed like you we're supposed too, in the 90's with the play off and Forest's abscense (their always disappearing that lot ) it did build up a bit of a rivalry, but that seems to have mostly faded now, some do see it as a big derby, but not for me, don't know what the rest of you on here think about it??

Stoke is as close, if not closer than Leicester, that's lost it's derby status even more though, the only noticeable thing when we play Stoke, is the increase in "hooligans" or those who just want to be hooligans...

Lupoli was not so lucky in recent months, hope he could get out of the valley soon and reopen his fire.

Interesting one, it's always built up in the local press as a big derby game, but it just doesn't have that same feel too it as the Forest games does it.

It doesn't come close to that rivalry. Other fans talk of other ones that they see as more important, Leeds, Stoke, even the Sheffield clubs, for me I'd say the 2nd or 3rd behind Leeds, it did seem a lot bigger in the 90's than it does now, your right their Jimbo.

90% of Derby fans would have Leeds 2nd on their most hated list, and it's not for evrybody hates Leeds reasons either.

Taken from wikipedia....

There is also a significant amount of rivalry with Leeds United, despite Leeds not being geographically close to Derby; the rivalry is due to Derby and Leeds being two of the top English teams in the early 1970s.

It's also due too hooliganism, of course with the era where we was like the Man Utd v Arsenal of present day, hooliganism was in it's element...

When we play leeds the crowd is a lot more passionate and feels much more of a derby game than when we play Leicester. Not that Leeds give a toss about us anymore but they don't care about anybody, refuse to acknowledge anybody as a rival ,and then winge about having no local derbies

Derby: Michael Johnson is available again after missing the win at Luton through suspension, though he was also carrying a hamstring injury and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit enough to be considered.

Striker Paul Peschisolido has had another week's training under his belt as he recovers from a thigh problem and he may also not be too far away from contention.

Otherwise it's a largely clean bill of health for the Rams, with Bob Malcolm still on the sidelines due to his ankle injury.

Leicester: The Foxes played a behind-closed-doors training game in midweek to boost the fitness of several of their squad members.

Gareth Williams, James Wesolowski, Rab Douglas, Josh Low, Andy Welsh, Elvis Hammond and Matty Fryatt all played some part against Bristol City.

Andy Johnson, Darren Kenton and Chris O'Grady were all absent from last week's defeat at home to Preston.

Boss Rob Kelly is optimistic that Williams and Wesolowski will be most likely to face the Rams.

Referee: Essex official Andy D'Urso gets a Derby County game for the second time this season.

D'Urso was in charge of the opening-day 2-2 draw at home to Southampton, when he flashed two yellow cards - both at Saints players.

The ex-Premiership referee has cautioned 44 players and dismissed a further two in his 17 games this season.

Oh and regards the 2 Sheffield clubs and Leeds as well, it is traditional for good Derbyshire people too hate Yorkshire, the whole of it. For the North Derbyshire fans Sheffield is on their doorstep, so those up their have as much reason too hate Sheffield as much as Forest really.

Exactly

Though he could argue he comes from a pure Derby born and bread family, whereas I don't...I wasn't even born in Derby myself.
