DERBY V West Brom @ PPS 04.11.06

Billy Davies wanted 6 points from the 2 home games this week, we're half way there, but now we have on paper the tough half of the task, although we made hard work of the easy bit...

The problem with our home foem is we struggle when teams come and get men behind the ball and don't give us space too play, hopefully Mowbray will set West Brom out too attack and gives us that space...which could also see plenty of goals flying in

Yes a more open game might actually suit us, we always used to do well against Ipswich at home when they had good sides, because the game was more open than they usually with most teams that come to Pride Park.

Hmmm an interesting game on paper this one because after reading Gregory's comments about his QPR side drawing vs WBA.. He said that were the best team in the Championship and should get promoted back the Premierhship

It will be an good test to see how far we have come along to be fair in the last couple of games playing against class oppostion!!!. If we can get a win on saturday, that would really raise the confidence levels around the place!!

should be a good game, WBA is a good team but if Derby want to make a push for the playoffs, they need to win this match

There a good team, and I don't see us with any chance of keeping a clean sheet, but there's clearly goals too be scored past them as well, so we need to out score them....to do that we need Lupoli up front

Jimbo's team too play West Brom

Bywater

Edworthy - Leacock - Moore - Jackson

Bisgaard - Barnes - Seth - Smith

Howard - Lupoli

A lot of talk again over the last couple of days on formations and who should be playing, so this is what I'd do.

For a start we should start and play the whole game 4-4-2.

The main talking point of the week, the keepers position, I'd go with Bywater, he's the number one, and will stay that way untill he has a really really bad game, and although he made mistakes on Wednesday, he also kept us in the game with some great saves.

At the back, Jackson should come in for me, first I was thinking at right back, and maybe putting Edworthy centre back, but if Hartson is playing we'll need Moore to mark him, so I've put him left back, and dropped Camara. Now I don't think he's quite as bad as many people make out, but he still needs dropping.

In midfield, Bisgaard has too play, apparently he had a tight muscle or something on Wednesday, which is why he was on the bench, which would explain it because now we have Bisgaard in from, you can't be dropping him, and i don't think it was a coincidence, that when he came on we started to look good and scored 2 goals. Also Ryan Smith on the left wing, what's the point of having Steve Howard, if we don't have any width and don't get balls into the box, Smith needs too start.

And finally Lupoli up front where he should be and Stead on the bench.

Mowbray on Derby....

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Mowbray took a midweek opportunity to examine the Rams ahead of his side's visit to Pride Park on Saturday.

The new Baggies chief watched from the stands as Derby came from behind to beat Barnsley 2-1 thanks to two more superb Giles Barnes goals.

"I watched Derby on Wednesday and we've got analysis from the last few weeks," he told www.wba.co.uk.

"They won a tight game against Barnsley thanks to two great strikes.

"At home, their crowd are very vocal. They're very supportive but they can also let the players know when things aren't going well.

"At half-time, the fans let them know things weren't going particularly well

"We've now got to go there and try to impose our game on Derby.

"We need to apply ourselves and stick to our gameplan.

"I saw enough on Wednesday to know we can go there and give them some problems.

"But, having said that, they have some decent footballers and scored a couple of good goals, which got their crowd going.

"They're a handful going forward."

Best pre match comments I've seen from an opposition manager this season, I'd agree with everything he says.

Derby: Paul Peschisolido (thigh), Bob Malcolm (ankle) and Michael Johnson (hamstring) remain on the sidelines for the visit of the Baggies.

And Derby have a new injury concern in the shape of team skipper Matt Oakley, who missed the 2-1 win over Barnsley after suffering from sciatica.

Midfielder Oakley is due to see a specialist about the problem to determine whether he will be fit for Saturday's game.

WBA: Thomas Gaardsoe is definitely out having not played since February due to a groin injury, and there is a major doubt over whether he will even set foot on a pitch again.

Boss Tony Mowbray may make a change in goal with Pascal Zuberbuhler suffering from a crisis of confidence, and his place could be taken by Luke Steele or ex-Ram Russell Hoult.

Ronnie Wallwork's appearance against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night was his first start in seven games while Nigel Quashie (ankle) and Darren Carter are on the sidelines.

Paul Robinson is also absent due to suspension after being sent off in the defeat to Birmingham City on Saturday.

THE REFEREE

Northamptonshire's Peter Walton is one of the elite list officials who has experienced the Premiership to League 2 this season.

He was in charge for Derby's 4-3 defeat at Colchester United on August 28 and is making his first visit to Pride Park since September last year when he blew the whistle on a 1-1 draw with Coventry City.

Walton has issued 35 yellows and one red card in his 14 games this season.

Prediction time then...I do think we can win it, it all just depends if we can keep things fairly tight at the back, sensible head on, I'm going for a 2-2 draw, but I just have this feeling we'll do it

Oakley definately misses the game, and Bisgaard is still a doubt, if Bisgaard doesn't play we don't have a chance

We'll lose the spark in midfield, then Lupoli will be put back there too try and create it, I really hope he's fit too play.

Who'd have thought everyone would be worrying on the fitness of Bisgaard, the way everyone slagged him off last season

Yeah

I always had faith in his ability, though I did think he was finished at the end of last season, it's been great too see him return to form.

Tony Mowbray handles himself very well, one of the few managers I have time for,he's another destined for bigger things than the Baggies,he's got talent alright, his Hibs team played some excellent football at times, they walloped us a few times over the last year or so.
He will do well down there,I just hope he doesnt start today.
2-1 for the good guys
