Crowds Keep Coming

Crowds keep coming

Derby County may have finished fifth from bottom of the Championship but they were in the top four when it came to average attendances.

The Rams' supporters have shown enormous faith in their team and, eith a new board to welcome and a large visiting support, there was a season's best attendance of 30,391 at Pride Park for the final game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday.

That boosted the Rams' average to 24,253.

Norwich City boasted the best average, 24,906, followed by Sheffield Wednesday with 24,853.

Derby's lowest gate of the campaign was 21,434 for the visit of champions Reading on New Year's Eve.

These have been the averages for Derby's four seasons in the Championship:

2005/06: 24,253
2004/05: 25,218
2003/04: 22,199
2002/03: 25,470

Not bad considering how shyte we've been.

But the main reason for opening this thread is the picture that came with the article....I spotted myself, standing up like a hooligan...I should be ashamed

Thing it's Gibbo next too me, not one of the time's Neil or Durkos was there.

Good picture though!!!!

Think season ticket sales kept them up this year, over 18 000 were sold, with the optimism of the new board, I think we could sell even more season tickets next season, and have even bigger attendances...not if we keep losing of course lol

I'd expect first home game too be a big attendance, if it's at the weekend a sell out. If we start well the crowds will keep up, also with a lot of midlands teams in the league next year there could be some big crowds there, especially if Forest come up as well.

It is pretty impressive considering how shyt you guys been.

We are no different. We been just as bad, but our crowd has also been quite good for a club in the bottom half of the Championship.

Same with Forest as well, we've all got good long standing fanbases...some would say long suffering as well, 4 years out of the Prem is like an eternity

Derby County appear on course to smash last year's season ticket figures following the end of the first discount deadline on Saturday evening.

Exact figures on how many were sold before 5pm will be revealed later today but director Jill Marples said the club had sold "just under 15,000".

That beats the figure of 12,982 sold before the corresponding deadline last year.

As from today, prices for season tickets will rise by about £50 but the club are confident of beating last year's total for pre-season sales which was 17,168
