Derby - Preston North End

The first time I open a Derby match thread

I just wanted to say that you have to beat Preston, not that they go on with their winning run. We need to get closer to them.

Well then, the rematch from the play offs, they might have ruined our dreams of the premiership, but they couldn't beat us at Pride Park, and haven't in the last 3 games, 0-0 and 3-1 and 5-1 wins for us being the scores, so it's not a ground they like visiting, lets keep it that way.

Just like us and Ipswich after missing out through the play offs last season they had a slow start this time around, but there on a bit of an unbeaten run and have climbed up to 6th, we're only 7 points behind and can close the gap too 4 with a win....QPR can get it too 1 if they do there bit

Here we are, I've been quite looking forward to this match actaully as I believe if we had a fit Idiakez and Rasiak over the 2 legs, the outcome might have been different.

But anyway enough about the past, we are currently on a good run at the moment, I can see no reason, why preston can stop it, I think you can say, that might be a bit weaker than they were than last year. I'm gonna predict a 2-0 score-line, with Davis and Nyantanga at the back, I can't see us conceding many goals.

If my memory serves me correctly, It was about this time last season where we started to push on, in terms of getting a playoff place.....
Lets hope the same happen's here

Yes, 3 wins on the bounce in December started the ball rolling last season, do the same again here and there's no reason why we can't get up there challenging again.

Record aginst Preston, 35 wins, 16 draws 42 defeats.

We've got some wins to catch up there, they probably won a lot in the early days when they were a good side.

Well that would be the case, when they had 2 of argueably the best players, of all time in their ranks, i.e Nat Lofthouse and Tom Finney

I've got a feeling this is going to be a draw, Preston are a tough side to beat, so I wouldn't grumble at a draw, I'm going 1-1 Blackstock to score (it's been a while).

The big talking point for this game, is will Seth Johnson be recalled, or will Brown stick with the same midfield which beat Norwich.

Brown says it's the toughest decision he's had to make, who do you drop? Not Idiakez obviously, so one of Bolder or Thirwell, Bolder surely can't be dropped after the game he had, but Thirwell played well as well, so it would be a bit unfair if he got dropped. But Seth has been so important to the team this season, it's a tough one, but that's what the manager gets paid for, so I'll let him sort it out

Yeah, I think so too, Seth will have to fight his way back into the team.

I agree with you lot that we should keep the same team as the midfield was excellent on saturday, especially Bolder. Johnson should be on the becnh but i wouldn't be suprised if he starts cause he has been playing well and Brown does have a soft spot for him.

Been reading the paper and there's a few things in it, firstly, Michael Johnson expects Seth Johnson to be on the bench, he says Phil Brown says if you come into the side and play well, you will keep your place no matter what, he has done this with Nyatanga and Tudgay, and expects Bolder to stay in as well.

Ansd Idiakez was asked about penalties and if he would take one, he replied "We will see but I think Tommy Smith is going to take the penalties."

I think that would be the right decision, Idiakez was good at blasting it down the middle, but you can only do that so many times before keepers suss you out, he's tried to mis it up with those silly steps and it's not working, so give Tommy a go, he could do with some extra goals.

W're on a good run hopefully we can keep it up with another win, it will be a harder game than Norwich, but I still think we can win, if we play like we did last week.

Just about ready to head off too the pub Gotta have the traditional listen to Steve Bloomers Watching first of course It will be a tough game today, but confidence has been raised with recent performances, so hopefully the lads can get another win, I wouldn't be devastated with a draw either.

COME ON YOU RAMS!!!!

Derby 1-1 Preston

Bit of a crap performance overall really, sloppy defending from a corner on the goal,we seemed tired and slow today, and never really looked like scoring, luckily we got a penalty, and there's no doubts on who the penalty taker is now, Tommy Smith slotted it away in the corner

Not a good performance, but the result was alright.
