DERBY v Stoke

I'm not happy, at the start of the season this is one I look out for, though it doesn't seem to be classed as a local derby anymore. there is plenty of rivalry, no more so than people who come from Uttoxeter, or like me have family from Uttoxeter, where they say you have 2 choices, Derby or Stoke, dunno what's wrong with Port Vale, but still. It's a game I always look forward too.

But after the last game, and the way some fans are still moaning, I fear the worst. I can see another sour atmosphere, some players heads dropping and us getting absolutely thrashed.

Being positive, I hope Brown has got the team up for this and, those dirty Stokies are going to be on the end of a backlash, and we give them a right good thrashing.

I believe Marc Edworthy could be fit for this game, good news, get him straight in there, Kenna really is past it now, and I think he's got 2 more years on his contract

It's vital we win, too get eveyone back behind Phil Brown and the team, if we lose the fans really will turn on Brown, and it will be hard for him too win them over again.

True CERTAIN fans who are already turning against him, really will be for him getting sacked if we lose this game, which is rubbish, he needs time, this season was always going to be hard.

I think, the players, will want to give the fans a good peformance, after the last couple of games!!!

We will see what the team and the manager is made of in this game, they will come out fighting or come out frightened, hopefully it's fighting.

Edworthy is unlikely to be fit, Thirwell is also unlikely to be fit enough to play, no news of Richard Jackson recovering either, so it will still be Grampa Kenna at Right Back.

Grampa Kenna, i like that descriptive of Jeff, well to be honest,i wudn't say this was a must win game, but if we don't win, the pressure put on old brown's back will be enourmous.
Lets hope, we can smash the potteries all over the show, as one graham richards would say!!

Well i must say that Derby have got to win this game, Now i'm not a fan of capital punishment, but if they don't win the players should all be shot..... errr 2-0 Derby scorers Pesch and Idiaekez....he's been at the club 2 years and i still can't spell his bloody name right.

Stoke has got a foreign manager in, who's brought in a load of foreign players, and they are doing surprisingly well, they've been up in the play offs so far this season, currently are 11th, 3 points ahead of us, so even with a win we can only go level with them

Derby County and Stoke City were founder members of the Football League, back in 1888.

It was the Rams who took the honours on the first-ever meeting between the two sides, a 2-1 home win in January 1889.

Stoke recorded their first win in the fifth encounter, and over the 123 games since that inaugural season there have been some interesting matches.

The highest-scoring game was in October 1925 at the Baseball Ground, when Derby triumphed 7-3 in an old Division Two encounter. (A repeat of that would be nice )

However, the Potters got their revenge 12 years later thanks to an 8-1 thumping at their former home, the Victoria Ground.

Both sides moved to new grounds in the 1990s but it wasn't until the 2002/03 season that Stoke visited Pride Park and the Rams went to the Britannia Stadium for the first time.

Branko Strupar tries to go around Stoke's Neil Cutler in August 2002

And it was honours to
Derby on both occasions.

Two late Malcolm Christie goals in August 2002 settled the Pride Park fixture, while in January 03 Christie struck his last in a Derby shirt before moving to Middlesbrough.

The Rams' other goals came from Luciano Zavagno and Lee Morris in a 3-1 success.

Stoke have lost their last 3 games....let's keep that run going

I remember that game at stoke in 2002, cause we played well that day, n lee morris scored a belting goal. Also christie, kissed his badge after he scored a goal in the game, which turned out to be last, before his move to middlesborough.
After a quick surf on skysports.com, it says the Charlton's Matt Holland, is wanting a loan move to play regular first team football. If always rated Holland, i think hes a very under-rated player, and would be an awesome addition to the squad.

People your thoughts please?

I thought of getting when I saw he was available, then I thought wwe don't need a centre midfielder, and we don't want to be back to 6 loan players and one can't make the squad.

Everytime that Stoke games mentioned, Christie kissing the badge comes up, it was quality when he scored, people at the ground believed he would stay, but he didn't. Instead he's been keeping the Middlesbrough medical staff busy.

My turn to ask for you lots thoughts

Question: Who should play in goal against Stoke?

Lee Camp
Lee Grant
Kevin Poole

All 3 are in the frame, Camp was number 1 but has not played well this season, Poole played well against Leicester, but he is 42, and Grant has only just recovered from an injury, it's a tough question, and I'm unsure myself, whay about you guys?

Lee Grant played against Crewe reserves in a freindly mid week, and let in 5 goals, not too sure about him playing then.

It's a bit worrying, having a 42 year old in goal, but if he performs you can't really complain, but he can only be a short term fix, so one of the younger keepers has to be the number 1, Grant is only just back from injury, so Camp should be first choice I feel.

Well I've been thinking about this and i would really like to see Grant have a go in goal (people who know me well, will know why i think this!!!!!!). But realisticly i think brown will stick with poole, he played very well last week, and possibly derserves to keep his place in the team

Well I think I would go with Camp myself, I just think he's better than Grant anyway, especially with Grant coming back from injury.
