League Cup - Grimsby

I hate this cup, we always lose to some shyte team, in the first round, this year it will no doubt be Grimsby's turn.

They've had a bit of a fall from grace, it wasn't too long a go they were beating us on Boxing day in a league fixture.

Give the reserves a run out, and hope they can do the job, I don't think Phil Brown will want to lose for the first time against Grimsby, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Its a home match, so why not use the reserves, if they win, great if they lose, oh well nothing bad. FA Cup is more important.

Dean Holdsworth should start up front

Rasiak has been playing a lot, with Poland havin that tournament, so he should be rested.

Peschisolido, Tudgay, Seth Johnson and Lee Holmes should all start the game IMO

Seth Johnson will definately start, as Phil Brown says there will be lots of chances. No surprise, especially as we have a league game on saturday and Monday.

Phil Brown has said Giles Barnes and Lewin Nyatanga will play some part in tonights match. I hope Barnes gets a good run out, he's the one of the two who seems more promising.

seems as it's the league cup, I'll predict we'll lose 2-1, we'll go 1-0 Peschisolido to score, then we'll fall apart in the last 20 minutes.

With the confidence the players have from the start we've had, I think we should win this, even resting some players. I'll say 2-0 Derby.

I think it will be 1-1 and the game will go the extra time, after that all I can hope for is a goal for Derby

Now that's something we could do without, extra time. For the players who stay in the team, and will play again on Saturday and Monday, because I don't think we have enough players to rest everyone.

well expect an "exciting" match, Grimsby are one of those chase and run teams, just kick the ball up field, hope the win the ball in the air or beat the defense to the ball. Also heard this team was very pyhsical, two players were sent off in their last league match.

Smith - Bolder - Johnson - Holmes
Peschy - Tudgay

Poole, Rasiak, Edworthy, Doyle, Barnes on the bench.

no surprise, Derby lose to Grimsby 1-0, they scored early and that was it. Oh well its good to continue the tradtion of early exits in the Useless Cup, the squad is too thin to go deep into these pointless cups.

Lincoln last season, Grimsby this year.

can't say life is good, but at least it's not that bad.

Not surprised we lost, that's why I was one of many Derby season ticket holders who never bothered going last night.

On the plus side, Nyatanga seemed to have a good game, Smith was dangerous on th ball, Holmes showed what he can do in patches.

But Camp, Edworthy, M Johnson, Davies (missed him alot) Bisgaard, Idiakez, Thirwell and Rasiak should all return too the starting line up on saturday, and give Burnley a right good thrashing to make up for last nights embarrasment.

arrrr i wern't expecting much, Derby always do crap in the leauge cup. I know Brown wanted to give players a rest and this game looked like the perfect opportunity, but surely a good cup run would help Derby County's finances and so him and the players should have took the game more seriously
