DERBY v Brighton Bummers

Finally it has arrived, the torture that is close season has ended, and we're back into the swing of things, starting on Saturday against Brighton, which is always a laugh, due too the stick we give them because there said to be the gay capital of Britain or something like that. Did people not think of what they were doing to the poor people of Brighton when they did that....just imagine if thatw as your home town....still usually makes for some funny chants.

As for us, new manager, a few new players, 2 signed (so far) and some more youngsters looking like they could be ready to break through. SO it will be an interesting week.

That is all for now, I was just getting the match thread started

Possible starting line up v Brighton

Camp

Kenna - Johnson(or Konjic) - Davies - Edworthy

Bisgaard - Bolder - Idiakez(if he's still here) - Smith

- Peshisolido
- Rasiak

Not sure who will play out of Johnson or Konjic.

Peschi could get a start behind Rasiak, as we need some support for him.

From the reports I have read, Brown's prefered centre back partnership is Davies and Johnson.

Also Kenna and Edworthy both prefer to play right back, so I'm not sure which one will swictch too left back.

Davies and Johnson would be the best option and Mills as the backup, I don't see Konjic playing much.

Don't forget to remind the tesco bag wearing gaylords that AJ is still at Palace and wants another hattrick against them

Jeff Kenna will miss the season opener witha hamstring injury.

I would expect Richard Jackson to replace him in the team.

Prediction time I think, as I met not get chance tomorrow morning.

Well, we couldn't have asked for (on paper) an easy game first up than Brighton at home. So that's a good start. With it also being Phil Brown's first game in charge, I expect a good crowd and atmosphere which always helps.

The club is still a shambles, but the team still performed on the pitch last season, so let's hope they can do it again.

Both teams weaknesses are at the back so I think there will be quite a few goals in this, 8 were scored in the 2 games between the sides last season.

So, I predict a 4-2 win for the Rams.

Rasiak with 2, Idiakez and Smith. I've not been keeping track of transfer activity with other clubs, so I don't even know who's currently playing for Brighton, so I won't put any scorers for them

Ooooooooooohhhhh, it's so obvious now that you've said it.

We'll try and do you a repaet of last seaosn, and give them another thrashing, but be warned we are usually terrible on the opening day and very rarely win....were due one though.

4 hours to kick off, and I'm already excited

It's been mostly doom and gloom, since the end of last season, I'll be glad to get back to Pride Park and concentrate on football matches, and a nice win will do very nicely.

I don't want to think about losing.
