George Burley was in Denmark recently to watch and un-named FC Copenhagen player.

Wayne Thomas of Stoke is still an option but he is also wanted by Burnley and a MLS club.

Thomas has signed for Burnley, on a 3 year deal, a big blow for us, a centre Back is the number one priority.

Just heard that West Ham want Rasiak, and could offer a couple of million, If they do I think he will be on his way, which will be a disaster.

Derby County's director of football Murdo Mackay has reassured the club's fans that Polish striker Grzegorz Rasiak is "not for sale."

The warning came after newspaper stories surfaced in the striker's native Poland suggesting that newly-promoted West Ham United were preparing to table a bid for the 26-year-old.

But Mackay said no contact had been made by the Hammers and added that as far as he was concerned, last season's leading goalscorer was "going nowhere."

"When a player of Greg's quality has had the season he has just had, he's bound to attract interest," said Mackay.

"He recently committed to the club for a further two years and as far as I'm concerned he's going nowhere and is not for sale.

"We have not had a bid or any contact from West Ham and they have not approached us with regard to Greg. We want him here and that will remain the case."

Rasiak's Italian-based agent, Giorgio de Giorgis, is quoted as saying: "West Ham asked about Grzegorz earlier during the season and I think the minimal price for him should be Ł1.5m."

Rasiak is also quoted in the article, suggesting he would have to consider any serious offer made by the Hammers.

The Polish international arrived at Pride Park last September and, with 17 goals from 38 appearances, was instrumental in the Rams' march to the play-offs.

He signed an initial one-year deal when he arrived via Italian club Siena and the Rams had an option which allowed them to extend his stay by two years, on an increased salary. They decided to exercise that option last month.

Rasiak could be involved in international action tomorrow night when Poland take on Azerbaijan in a World Cup qualifier where a win would take see them leapfrog England to the Group Six table.

Meanwhile, Mackay revealed he has held talks with one potential signing earlier this week.

The identities of all players that the Rams are interested in remain firmly under wraps but Mackay said promising progress had been made.

He added: "I've had a long conversation with one player we are interested in and he would be an excellent signing.

"He seems very keen to speak further and we should be having a face-to-face meeting with him and his agent early next week."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good to hear them say Rasiak is not for sale, whether that is actually true is another matter of course....I never realised Rasiak had signed his extended deal :embarass:

Also wonder who the player who Mackay is talking about is, hopefully a defender

We've also been linked with 19 year old Greek striker Konstas Kontapolis of AEK Athens.

A Derby fan living in Athens, actually saw Murdo Mackaay going to the stadium, sounds promising.

Hajto in Rams link
Polish defender Tomasz Hajto is being linked again with a move to Pride Park, writes Phil Harrison.

Reports in the Polish press suggest Derby could be looking to bring the 32-year-old over from the German Bundesliga where he is playing with FC Nurnberg.

Hajto has won 60 caps for his country and his previous clubs include Schalke 04, MSV Duisborg and Gornik Zabrze.

He made Champions League and UEFA Cup appearances and twice helped them to lift the German Cup.

He was linked with a move to Derby in January this year but former manager George Burley said at the time that the club would not be pursuing him.

# Former Rams star Giorgi Kinkladze could be set for a return to the Premiership with Wigan Athletic.

The 32-year-old, who made 100 appearances, 65 of them starts, for the Rams between 1999-2003, is believed to be keen to revive his international career for Georgia. He feels that would be best served by a return to the Premiership, with Paul Jewell's Latics thought to be leading the chase for his signature.

# Tom Huddlestone played for England Under-20s during their semi-final defeat against France in the Toulon Tournament last night.

France won 5-4 on penalties after a goalless encounter.

The former Rams player was one of the England players who managed to convert his spot kick.

------------------------------------------

How can we sign a player when we don't have a manager though?

Players Bolyon have released

Blessing Kaku - No, was useless when he had him on loan last year, thinkhe's signed for someone already as well.

Anthony Barness - Old relieable defender, maybe?

Kevin Poole - Old experienced keeper, maybe as cover.

Julio Cesar - Don't know who this guy is.

Florent Laville - Looked good when I saw him play, defender as well, just what we need.

Ricky Shakes - Who?

Jason Talbot - Another wasted loan last year from Bolton, has signed for Mansfield anyway.

Looking at their squad, here's some Bolton players we could nick,

Okocha

Bruno N'Gotty, not sure if he still gets in there team, big lads at the back are always useful.

Ricardo Gardner, never really made a big impact in the Prem, was very good in this league though.

Bolton only have a first team squad off 18 players, that's tiny, even smaller than ours!

Brown has said he hopes to sign one new player by Thursday, wonder whether it will be someone from Bolton, or from somewhere else, anyway, good to see him getting straight into business.

Chris Makin who had a fairly good loan spell last season, has now been releasedby Leicester, and was asked to come back for pre season training by Burley.

Phil Brown has spoken too Main, and said that he will still be coming for pre season training, with a view to being offered a deal, if he impressed Brown.
