People's Salvation Cathedral

Construction cost amounts to almost half a billion euros. Because Romania is over-stacked with hospitals

I'm not kidding here, and I've said it before, if you look deep down in your soul you'll realize that Romanians are master race.

Notre Damme and Hagia Sophia probably. The latter was built in 537.

Both. No, I'm not a huge fan of either churches. When I judge the churches of places which are part of my life I'm biased so I'm tempted to answer San Lorenzo in Turin anyway.

There is no real comparison between the grand churches of Europe and those of the USA. There are some nice cathedrals on the east coast but as you move west churches become more utilitarian and look more like office buildings from the outside. There are a few exceptions such as the modernistic Crystal Cathedral on the west coast:

The National Cathedral, I've never been in:

....and of course St Patricks Cathedral in NYC that I have been:

Monte dei Cappuccini looks fantastic, even more so because of the setting.

I'm really not a fan of churches that look like massive corporate behemoths. That seems like an appeal to popularity or flexing rather than making things as beautiful as possible.

I guess this is why the famous European churches and cathedrals would appeal to me the most.

Of the world highlights that I've visited I would choose the Duomo in Florence. It's such a happy union of Italian gothic and renaissance (Giotto's campanile, Brunelleschi's dome), and of course totally groundbreaking, in a way the foundation of the renaissance and not just in terms of architecture.
