Next Opponents?

If you've heard rumours about who we play next and when, lets hear um. There's about 19 months left till the start of Euro 2004. If they do a little better than one game every two months, they'll play at least 12 teams between now and then.

Who would you like to see us play?

For me the dream match would be to see us play the Italians.

The Italians pretty much sums it up for me too.

However I would like Portugal to play South Korea again.

A France match up would tantalize my taste buds.

Oh yeah, and the U.S. too. Re-visit all our recent nightmares and this time do get the right outcome. That would be great to see.

I don't understand? If the U.S performed so well at the WC against some quality sides, why are they picking friendlies against El Salvador? Bringing up your FIFA rating doesn't mean ****, because you aren't going to be prepared for your next major challenge if you play unsatisfactory sides. Now they were smart before the WC, playing against the Italians and Dutch.

Well we have 2 years of friendlies, due to most of the European nations being involved in Euro 2004 qualifying, we'll most likely face more S. American sides. Maybe some Asian sides such as SK and N. American such as U.S and Mexico. Africa also has alot of quality side so look out for those games.

Well what I want right now isn't the annoucement of who we are facing next, but who will be coaching next. We need to get that set. Then I would really like to see the following teams against us: Germany, Brazil, U.S, SK, Argentina, Italy, France, and Turkey.

Germany - Crushed them in Euro 2000, got to show them whos boss.

Brazil - Want to see if we can beat them, which I believe we can.

U.S - Revenge

SK - Revenge and possibly like to see a good game.

Argentina - Highly Anticipated WC 2002 Final against us, plus I would just love to see it.

Italy - Revenge over that 2-0 friendly lose awhile ago.

France - Same as Italy, but 4-0 revenge also Euro 2000 revenge.

Turkey - Pretty much.... I want to really **** them up... I don't believe their as good as everyone thinks.

how does beating a team in a friendly qualify as "revenge".

Portugal fan: "Ha ha. Losers. We just beat you!"

USA/France fan: "So? We eliminated you from the World/Euro championship?"

Again, pick middle to upper middle teams to get a feel for the team and then from January '04 to June '04 play upper calibre opponents.

Good point Marco. I guess when you're a small country you take what you can get. Hell, in Toronto we celebrated the Brasil win as if it was our own.

In Montreal they did that too. I nearly puked at the site of all those luso-brazil flag waving spazzes.

Well I don't know about you, but thats how I feel. France may be in the past, but I still feel that lose against the U.S, not as much as I did on that day, but I still do. I just want to play them in a friendly and win to get rid of it. Plus, I'd still like to see Portugal play France, because its a good match up with two quality sides. So your saying if both teams come in with full rosters meaning their best players and one side wins 7-0, that doesn't show anything? I'm trying to say that I want us to make a statement to the world that the World Cup was just a fluke for us and that we're better than that. But you'll have to agree with this that right now isn't the time to go up against the best. We have to reform, first we must get our coach, then we go on from there.

Well yes and no. If we perform well in a our friendlies and in Euro 2004, most of that ill feeling will be gone, but not completly. Spain came into this past World Cup as a favorite aswell, dispite their bad performance at WC 98, and not so good look at Euro 2000. Why? Because of how they played throughout qualifying and friendlies. Ofcourse people still thought that they could choke, but not the majority. Portugal is in the somewhat same position as they were.

I've already heard were matched for Brazil in May, but obviously our next friendly will most likely be in January.

The way I see it is, if we get elminated in Euro Quarters, we've made some ground after the WC, Semi's were back where we were 2 years before the WC, and if we win Euro, hopefully people won't say the reffs were biased.

the next friendly should be in February and there are usually no friendlies played in May.

The international match/friendly schedule is as follows (90% of the time)

When qualifying starts:

1 September match (first week)
2 October matches (first week)
1 November match (middle week)
1 February match (middle week)
2 March matches (3rd week)
1 April Match (middle week)
2 June Matches (first week)
1 August match (middle week)
2 September Matches (first week)
1 October Match (first week)
1 November match (middle week)
etc...
etc....

Spain is always a favorite because of their qualifying matches and their club successes.

Ok....well I do care about my life, my family, my girl friend, my friends, my girl friend, my grades, money, mainly it probably missing something. It's not your decision to say that I don't seem to care about anything, because you don't know me.

God I hope they don't end up playing in that sh*tty giants stadium, small as heck. But if they do play there Im definately going, although I doubt it would happen since the US would probably prefer playing some more countries from Central America (excluding Columbia). I don't see the point in them acting like their a big footballing country and facing countries which have never even got to the Copa America.
