Maritimo VS Benfica

Tonight we play Marítimo away, at 20.30h GMT, on another very tough game, and one we must win!

Marítimo has made a point in resting several starters in last week's game, in order to have them well rested to play against us, so as usual, our opponent will give their very best, and we need to be ready for it, play our A game and fight for the win.

these are the players called by Rui Vitória:

Goalkeepers– Ederson, Paulo Lopes , André Ferreira

Defenders– Lisandro, Grimaldo, Luisão, Lindelöf, Eliseu, Jardel , André Almeida

Midfielders – Fejsa, Samaris, Salvio, Gonçalo Guedes, Pizzi, Talisca, Carcela , Renato Sanches

Forwards – Raúl Jiménez, Mitroglou , Jonas

Jardel is back ( thankfully because Luisão is in a shambles), but Gaitan isnt, with Silvio being injured aswell

FORÇA BENFICA!!! :weee: :weee: :weee:

No discussion about the second yellow. But he shouldn't have been booked for the "dive". The defender went full throttle into his legs. Oh well, it is what it is... Need to score in the second halftime. There were a couple of good opportunities and maybe one will be converted.

thank u, yes just saw it....the 1st yellow is an absurd mistake from the ref, the 2nd one is a stupidity of renato, how do u kick a player like that when u already have a yellow, and there is no danger at allalm:

i see jonas hit the post and forced the maritimo goalie to an outstanding defense...yeh, things are going bad for us

its going to be very tough, 10 men, no gaitan, no renato, we have to win this no matter what, and the players on the pitch better put that in their minds

benfica has overcome far better teams than maritimo with 10 men, so we can do it, just need to be more efficient and use the brain a bit more

A Maritimo player butted heads with Jardel and went down injured. Seems he went unconscious for a bit. Hope he'll be okay

The long injury time was because the medical staff hat to treat the Maritimo defender after the collision with Jardel. They had a player sent off aswell

The lagarticha were so hopeful when Ranato got sent off. Bwah!

amazing win, amazing effort from our players, and ...brain, played with brain...again missed this time 3 chances in the 2nd half ( pizzi...a sitter, jimenez sooo close, and before cant recall who hit the bar)

to play with 10men from the 37th min onwards and win 0-2, missing 3 clear chances ( one was an unbelievable defense from their goalie), hitting the bar twice....takes a lot of passion, nevre giving up, and the team had it tonight, and i'm so so proud...thank u players, thnak u rui vitoria...saw our rui costa talking to vitória at some point in the 2nd half...so good to have him back where he belongs....vieira came to the pitch to give a hug to rui vitoria after the game...really, this team has shown once more that when all odds were agaisnt us, they overcome the difficulties and brought home the win

FORÇA BENFICA!!!!!

90 minutes to the title and the end of a great footballing lesson from Prof Rui.

Two great strikes. Talisca was locked in on that goal.
