ok, so tonight at 20.30 GMT +1 we play our 1st league game of the season, and against a traditionally challenging opponent, Estoril

i'll be having a seafood fest, with chilled green wine and hopefully cheering our many goals

seriously, its key to start with a win above all, a good decent play but overall a win

i recall several times we losing pts at the beginning of the season, but with a new coach we all know how important it is for him and the team to begin with confidence and the support of the fans

Players called by Rui Vitória:

Goalkeepers: Ederson , Júlio César;

Defenders: Lisandro López, Luisão, Eliseu, Sílvio, Jardel, André Almeida , Nelson Semedo;

Midfield: Fejsa, Samaris, Gaitán, Ola John, Gonçalo Guedes, Pizzi, Talisca , João Teixeira;

Forwards: Mitroglou, Jonathan Rodríguez, Jonas , Victor Andrade

injuries list is growing, now we have Taarabt , Cristante, Salvio and Carcela

Players called by Fabiano Soares:

Goalkeepers: Pawel Kieszek , Rúben Dionísio;

Defenders: Yohan Tavares, Anderson Luís, Mano, Diakhité e Diego Carlos;

Midfield: Afonso Taira, Billal, Anderson Esiti, Bruno César, Mattheus, Babanco, Leandro Chaparro , Matheuzinho;

Forwards: Léo Bonatini, Gerso, Sebá ,Dieguinho.

injuries list has Bruno Miguel, Kakuba ,Mendy , Luiz Philipe and Diogo Amaral

FORÇA BENFICA!!!!

4-0. Struggled until Mitrogolou opened the scoring with a well taken header. I wasn't able to really watch. So I'll hold off on opinions.

I hope you had a great mariscada and I also hope you paid as much attention to what this ref did as you did to the one of our game on Friday. :smileani:

yessssss!!!!!!!!!

the champion is back!!

estoril played well, we didnt have it easy, and until mitroglou finally scored ( he had missed two clear chances) the game was very balanced. Luisão had hit the bar, but estoril could have scored aswell, and there was a dubious situation in which a penalty should have been called for them

mitroglou's goal was key , and since then the team didnt give estoril any chance to breathe really

the 2nd goal is a wrongly called penalty, that jonas scored, but then we scored the 3rd by jonas and the 4th by nelson semedo and tbh we could have had a 5th

it was very important that both mitro and jonas scored, after all thats what forwards are there for, gaitan had a great game, semedo too ( maxi whom?) and i was totally amazed with victor andrade, very promising

1st game, we won, we scored, and we are ahead, its exactly what we needed, now this team has to keep it up

im so happy

Good. I'm glad to see that the chilled white wine didn't impair your vision.

the food was awesome, the wine too

yes two bad decisions, doesnt look good for the season in that regard, but it was a good game, and we scored enough goals to deserve the win

I don't think you'll disagree if I tell you that had the ref called that penalty against SLB and Estoril had scored from it the story of this game would have been totally different but in fact I think it is a good thing that you won. I hope you keep winning until August 31st. :smileani:

might have been different or not....we missed many goals, so did they...could have went either way

estoril has yet again a good team , and we had clearly the toughest game of the big 3, so it was just the result we needed

having said that. have u noticed the amount of portuguese players we have playing? i hadnt seen this in many years

All the pressure was on you to win and going one goal down against a team that was defending so well would have been a really tough nut to crack.

I don't know if you had the toughest game and the rsult is obviously great but if I was a fan of your club I would still be worried after what we saw today.

Really? You started with 3 Portuguese players and two of them used to play a lot for you under your previous coach (Eliseu and Pizzi). Then Pizzi left and that kid Guedes came in in the last 10'. Is that a lot?

I have the feeling that we played with a bit more than those on Friday. p

we had never ever more than 2 portuguese players on the field at the sametime ....today we started with 3 and kept them

of coz we are still far from your numbers, but we have increased the number in 50%

and of coz im worried theres a lot of work to do, and we still need a few players....im happy tonight, like i said before and after the game , it was very important to win tonight, but i know how hard this season will be and i still say we are the dark horse this season

Filipe, I thought you'd be more interested in watching your own team play this season considering after all that you are now playing more attractive Futebol. I guess not though, it's more of the same from you. I believe there is a word for it...Mourinho once used it to describe Wenger's behavior.

Perhaps you should concentrate your efforts on figuring out why your players are improperly taking throw-ins.

Anyhow, let's see how the looming lawsuit between Benfica and Judas effects Sporting; I'm sure you're preparing that excuse already

I'm very interested in watching Sporting, as always, no matter if they play bad or nice football. It's my club, so it's normal. Nevertheless I also like to watch the matches where our rivals play and I will comment whenever I feel like it, as you like it or not.

I doubt this lawsuit will ever happen because it is too ridiculous but the timing of this announcement just shows what is really behind it. Anyway, I'm pretty happy this is going on. It just shows the level of the current board of SLB: acting like a betrayed husband with a big pair of cornos.

Why is this guy here?
4 games, 4 pk's for his team.

PK not called in Aveiro against Arouca and he's no where to comment.

Talk about BIASED opinion , that's ok, you'll be gone by December.
